Beschreibung

The first three books in John Broughton's series of historical novels, now available in one volume!

Saints And Sinners: In seventh century England, tribes and kings vie for power. Based on true stories, the first book in the series shines a light on the murky Dark Ages, and recreates a Britain on the cusp of momentous change.

Mixed Blessings: The English Midlands, 8th Century A.D. Having created much-needed stability within his domain, Æthelbald, King of Mierce now aspires to take the surrounding kingdoms to expand and fortify his own. As his reign grows and strengthens, so too does the authority of the church.

Offa - Rex Merciorum: In 8th century Mercia, King Offa lusts for power. Amid societal changes, he has to navigate power struggles, revolts and alliances in the tumultuous Anglo-Saxon Britain. But who is the real force in his reign? There is little concrete evidence, but in OFFA - REX MERCIORUM, John Broughton breaks through the veil of time and provides an entertaining, well-researched historical tale.

Originally written to be read aloud to friends gathered comfortably together, these stories convey simple, universal truths in a lighthearted, fun way. The whimsical illustrations help bring the characters to life, capturing their foibles and quirks. In between are sprinkled four poems of hope, optimism, and thankfulness that will make you (perhaps) think. Some of the friends you’ll meet within these pages include:
*A squirrel who must decide how to use the gift that is given to him.
*An old man forced to reevaluate his life.
*A disappointing Christmas present that becomes the greatest gift of all.
*A beaver who yearns to soar.
*A girl whose dreams signal disaster.
A fun, thought-provoking read for all ages, these stories are a breath of fresh air that will revive your spirit and restore your faith in human nature.

Six months ago, Liam Donovan met the world's cheeriest, most upbeat woman at a wedding. It was the longest two days of his life. Now she’s his next door neighbor—talk about awkward. Tessa Sullivan believes in always looking at the bright side. Unfortunately, her new neighbor is the most negative man on the planet, and he seems to have made it his mission to ruin her good mood on a daily basis. She loves to sing, she loves to smile, but more than anything, she loves to decorate for the holidays. The fact that this seems to bug her new neighbor is simply a perk. After twelve years in the Marines, Liam is more than ready to come home and start the next phase of his life. He’s starting a business, reconnecting with his mildly overbearing family, and loving the fact that he’s finally got a place of his own. If only his neighbor’s decorations would stay on her side of the property. There isn’t one thing about Tessa that tempts him…until there is. Now she’s all he can think about. Being friends makes sense. Becoming lovers was inevitable. But having Tessa be his forever is more than tempting.

Only the fierce survive when the warm days of civilization are ripped away, and the brutal law of club and fang reigns supreme.
Buck is a king in his sun-kissed California valley, but when a treacherous betrayal leads to his kidnapping, he is plunged into the frozen, unforgiving nightmare of the 1897 Klondike Gold Rush. Sold to government couriers, Buck is forced to haul heavy sleds across endless miles of treacherous ice and snow alongside wolf-dogs who would rather kill him than share a scrap of meat. Stripped of his pampered life, Buck must rely on something deeper than intellect: the ancient, wild instincts of his ancestors. He will face starvation, savage rivalries, and the sheer cruelty of mankind, but a terrifying and magnificent transformation is taking place within his soul. Buck isn't just fighting to endure—he is fighting to conquer.
Why you will love this: Fans of pulse-pounding Adventure Fiction will be captivated by this timeless tale of wilderness survival and the primal forces of nature. The story brilliantly weaves together classic tropes of the animal protagonist, the harsh Yukon setting, man versus nature, and the ultimate triumph of the underdog against overwhelming odds. It is a gritty, atmospheric, and emotionally resonant journey into the heart of the wild.
About the Author: Jack London (1876-1916) was an American novelist, journalist, and social activist who pioneered commercial magazine fiction. Drawing heavily on his own harrowing experiences as a prospector in the Klondike, London's rugged, naturalistic prose established him as a towering figure of American literature and one of the highest-paid writers of his era.

    “Need some help, honey?”
Elise gave him her best smile. “You’ll pull it.”
“Nope, I’m a great hair brusher. Ask my nieces. They all vie for Uncle
Ross to brush their hair whenever I see them.”
Elise handed it over and let him lead her back to the bedroom where he
lowered her on the carpeted floor in front of the chair he eased himself
into. She sat back between his naked thighs and shivered at the feel of the
hair on his legs against her ribs and arms. He patiently worked at the knots
and tangles until he could pull through the mass without any obstructions.
Elise loved it. She drifted on the sensation and couldn’t think of anything
    that would change it.
“If you plan to volunteer at that soup kitchen again, Elise, you’ll wait until I
can go with you,” Ross said.
Elise considered his tone. “Will you be able to go on a regular basis?” she
    asked.
“Probably not every Sunday, honey, but maybe once a month or so,” Ross
answered. “I would hope that you and I will be doing different things on
some Sundays. Volunteer work is important, and I’m now ashamed that I
give money instead of my time, but charity begins at home.”
    Elise hid her smile. “Okay.”
“When Norbert calls you, and I know he will, you can tell him that I’m your
significant other, your boyfriend, your Dom. You choose.”
Elise turned to face him. She held him with her gaze, searching his
    features.
