Victor Marie Hugo was born on 26th February 1802 in Besançon, France.
There can be no doubt that Hugo is ranked as the greatest of French authors and poets. In addition to this he fought against social injustice throughout his life and from his frequent elections to the French Assembly.
Hugo published his first novel, Han d’Islande (1823), the year after his marriage and so began an immense canon of fiction and poetry not only for France but to World literature.
He was elected to the Académie Française in 1841 and the same year came a peerage and entrance to the Higher Chamber as a pair de France, where he spoke against the death penalty, social injustice and in favour of press freedom.
In the years leading up to the Revolution of 1848 Hugo began to lean towards Republicanism and greater freedoms. With the formation of the Second Republic, he was again elected to the Assembly.
When Napoleon III seized power in 1851, and established an anti-parliamentary constitution, Hugo openly declared him a traitor to France. This, of course, meant exile where he remained until 1870. In exile he published his greatest work ‘Les Misérables’, and further widely honoured collections of poetry.
Returning home he was again elected to the National Assembly and the Senate. It was the time of the Franco-Prussian war and with Paris under siege and food ever more scarce, he wrote in his diary that he was now "eating the unknown".
Later he was instrumental in strengthening the rights of artists and copyright, steps which led to the international protections of the Berne Convention.
Victor Hugo died on 22nd May 1885, aged 83.

"Tender, funny, and deeply uplifting, Wait, It Gets Worse is about more than facing the unexpected; it's an everywoman's guide to living a life that matters."

    —Arianna Huffington
With a voice that is wise, irreverent, and filled with sharp humor, Wait, It Gets Worse is a story about following all the rules only to learn the hard way that control is a lie and an illusion, and that love will save your life.
Lydia Slaby was thirty-three years old and had everything she believed would make her happy: three fancy private school degrees; a successful husband who was in the inner circles of Barack Obama's presidential campaign; a high-paying job as an attorney—even an enviable yoga practice. But under the surface Lydia's life was in free-fall. Her new marriage was one argument after another, she had a job she never wanted, and for some reason she had begun to rapidly lose weight and turn a strange shade of yellowish-green. When she made a doctor's appointment to talk about the toll of extreme stress, she was instead admitted with a diagnosis of lymphoma.
As a cancer survivor, Lydia tries to piece back together her marriage, her career, and her own worth. She begins to rewrite her value as a human being and build her own version of faith until, finally, she is moving forward instead of back. It's an imperfect rebirth, but "perfection" is something she must abandon if she is to at last find the perspective that will open a new, calm, healthy life.

Kunal Gupta climbed the ladder of success and found it leaning against the wrong wall.
He had it all. Despite being CEO of a thriving technology business, living on the 54th floor of a luxury condo building, traveling business class everywhere, having a life filled with luxury, being in a committed and loving relationship, and having optimal physical health, life felt empty.
"How to Live" follows Kunal’s path to experiment with life over a ten year journey where he quietly gave up material possessions for two years, slept on strangers' couches for over one hundred nights, jumped off cliffs to overcome fear, meditated daily for 10+ years and spontaneously moved to Portugal on three days notice.
Kunal takes readers on his transformative journey of self-discovery, moving from external validation to inner fulfillment. Guided by insatiable curiosity, Kunal embarked on a series of life experiments, challenging societal norms and inherited personal beliefs, with each experiment reshaping his perspective on life, success, and happiness.
“How to Live” is an invitation to redefine life by challenging the status quo and seeking true meaning and purpose. Drawing from philosophy and psychology, Kunal offers insights from his path to inspire others looking to challenge the belief patterns in their lives and live authentically.

Under his leadership, especially growing Rackspace's high-quality customer service, Fanatical Support, the tech start-up gained thousands of customers and industry dominance. A lifelong Texan, Lanham grew the company in his home state, overseeing the development of phenomenal new headquarters (a converted mall) in San Antonio and leading the company's IPO. Further, he obsessed over how to increase employee engagement, and he exuberantly succeeded in his goal.
But, when Microsoft, Amazon, and Google entered the industry in force, everything changed . . . including Lanham's relationship with Rackspace executives and the company's board of directors. Lanham believed he had three options for leading the Rackspace response to the intense competition. But in fact, the board showed him that there was a fourth option (a very challenging option at that), which he had never even considered.
