Sinopsis

The American author and creator of the folk character Uncle Remus, Joel Chandler Harris produced a wide body of works, reflecting his life and interests in the Deep South. As a young journalist, he established a reputation as a brilliant humorist and writer of dialect. His Uncle Remus stories secured for Harris a place in American literature. The format was an instant success — a wise and genial old black man, Uncle Remus narrates tales of Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox and other animals to the son of a plantation owner, while interweaving his philosophy of the world about him. Harris’ later novels reveal his ability as a writer of ‘local color’, exploring important issues facing the South after its Reconstruction. For the first time in publishing history, this eBook presents Harris’ complete works, with numerous illustrations, many rare texts, informative introductions and the usual Delphi bonus material. Meet Fisher Bas: a 12-year-old, growth-stunted, geeky science genius who is the son of Nobel Prize-winning parents. Despite his outsized IQ, Fisher is far from the most popular kid in his middle school - he's actually tormented daily by overgrown goons he calls the Vikings. Holed up in his home lab over a long weekend, Fisher uses his mother's revolutionary Advanced Growth Hormone to clone himself. Now Fisher Two can go to school each day while the real Fisher stays at home playing video games, eating Cheetos, and working on his latest inventions. It's an ingenious plan that works brilliantly . . . until Fisher's clone turns out to be more popular than him and gets clone-napped by the evil scientist Dr. X. As his simple plan collapses, Fisher must set out on an epic adventure to rescue his genetic counterpart.

Originally published in the Strand Magazine between December 1894 and September 1903. The Exploits of Brigadier Gerard by Arthur Conan Doyle, the celebrated author of Sherlock Holmes and the Lost, follows the adventures of Brigadier Etienne Gerard, a courageous soldier in the service of Napoleon. From a sleepy cafe in Paris, he whiles away the hours recounting his glories in the service of France. From his victory over the Count of the Castle of Gloom, the mysterious affair of the Ajaccio Brothers and his daring escape from Dartmoor Prison to his brush with the dastardly Marshal Millefleurs and his successful conveying of the Emperors own despatches through the enemy held towns of Soison and Senlis. Gerard never wavers in his dedication to the Emperor, or his convictions that he is the finest soldier in all of france, and therefore, the world.Adapted into several films and radio dramas across the years, George McDonald Fraser once cited Brigadier Gerard as a major inspiration for his own fictional comedic adventurer Harry Flashman.Narrated by Michael Ward.
