After attending a museum on Ancient Egypt, Bayard sneaks out with a piece of ancient pottery in his pocket and uses it to stick in the purse and transport the little London house back in time.
Soon, the family discovers new friends along the way and finds out some new and old information about ancient Egypt as well as this new team of time travelers.
Freddy and Susan desire nothing more than to celebrate their anniversary in a quiet, peaceful setting-that is IF they can make it home. But with pyramids in the mix, anything can happen…

A gross and giggle-inducing take on the classic children’s song with “sly humor and a bit of the unexpected presented with bold art” (School Library Journal).   There was an old lady who swallowed a fly . . . Young readers will love hearing about the fly and all the other creepy-crawly bugs the old lady gulps down in this fanciful feast. With a taste for slugs, the old lady enjoys a poached roach, a squirmy worm, a wiggly spider, and more during the course of the tale. And a surprise ending reveals that this isn’t just any old lady. Accompanied by Johnette Downing’s signature colorful collage illustrations, this good and gross tale pops off the page with its fun, musical language and whimsical look at the insect food chain.   “Johnette Downing has done it again . . . Another entertaining read for young ones.” —Baton Rouge Advocate   “As an enthusiast of fractured tales and a big fan of Johnette’s songs and stories, I give Johnette’s new book a big ten thumbs up. Her funny and surprising version gives a new twist to an old favorite. It is ‘kidtastic!’” —Ann L. Davis, head of children’s services, Napa City-County Library, Napa, California

Owen, Kiel, and Bethany confront secrets, stolen memories, and some very familiar faces in the second book in the New York Times bestselling series, Story Thieves—which was called a “fast-paced, action-packed tale” by School Library Journal—from the author of the Half Upon a Time trilogy.Owen Conners’s whole life changed the day he found out his classmate Bethany was half-fictional, and could take him into any book in the library. Which story would they jump into next? Another fantasy, like the Kiel Gnomenfoot, Magic Thief books? Maybe something with superheroes? Owen’s up for anything except mysteries—those just have too many hidden clues, twists that make no sense, and an ending you never see coming. Then Owen wakes up in a real-life mystery with a memory that’s been erased and too many questions. How did Kiel Gnomenfoot lose all of his magic? Where is Bethany? And who’s the annoying guy wearing the question mark mask and Sherlock Holmes hat, taunting Owen and Kiel that Bethany is in grave danger?Bethany is trapped in a hidden room that’s slowly filling with water, and she can’t escape until her friends find her. But is she imprisoned by more than just chains and a locked door? What’s she hiding from Owen and Kiel?Maybe some mysteries just shouldn’t be solved…Please note: The black bars in the first nine chapters are intended.

The series dedicated to the immigrant experience in modern America starts off with a moving novel of one family’s struggles in Haiti and New York.

It is election time in Haiti, and bombs are going off in the capital city of Port-au-Prince. During a visit from her home in rural Haiti, Celiane Espérance and her mother are nearly killed. Looking at her country with new eyes, Celiane gains a fresh resolve to be reunited with her father in Brooklyn, New York. The harsh winter and concrete landscape of her new home are a shock to Celiane, who witnesses her parents’ struggle to earn a living, her brother’s uneasy adjustment to American society, and her own encounters with learning difficulties and school violence.

“The excellence of the writing and the resilient outlook of both first-person fictions set a high standard for this series.” —The Horn Book

“The author captures the color and texture of Haitian life as well as the heroine’s adjustment to New York. While readers may want to hear more about her experiences in Brooklyn, they will appreciate the truthfulness of the family’s struggle to reconnect.” —Publishers Weekly
