Summary

Jerome K. Jerome’s comic masterpiece is based on the adventures of J, Harris and George, who decide a boating holiday would be just the thing to help them recover from overwork. Their famous journey up the Thames, from Kingston-upon-Thames to Oxford is thwarted variously by incompetence, recalcitrant tins of pineapple, and an irascible fox terrier called Montmorency.

Three Men in a Boat became an instant bestseller, and remains one of the most popular books in the English language.

This edition includes a new introduction by Carolyn W. de la L. Oulton, Jerome's most recent biographer.
Available since: 01/21/2018.

"The Iliad is an epic poem in dactylic hexameters, traditionally attributed to Homer. Set in the Trojan War, the ten-year siege of Ilium, by a coalition of Greek States, it tells of the battles and events during the weeks of a quarrel between King Agamemnon and the warrior Achilles. Although the story covers only a few weeks in the final year of the war, the Iliad mentions or alludes to many of the Greek legends about the siege" (Summary from Wikipedia)

Categories is the first of Aristotle's six texts on logic which are collectively known as the Organon. In Categories Aristotle enumerates all the possible kinds of things that can be the subject or the predicate of a proposition. Aristotle places every object of human apprehension under one of ten categories (known to medieval writers as the praedicamenta). Aristotle intended them to enumerate everything that can be expressed without composition or structure, thus anything that can be either the subject or the predicate of a proposition. The ten categories, or classes, are: Substance, Quantity, Quality, Relation, Place, Time, Position, State, Action and Affection. Sara Crewe’s young life is filled with wealth and pampering. But when her father dies in India and his wealth is lost, like a hot-house plant cast into the snow her life is reduced to shear survival. Turned into a beggar, her courage and strong-will are all she inherited from her father. This proves to be of greater value than riches as she finds the strength of character needed to help herself and two pitiful compatriots out of the depths of poverty.
