Quantum Field Theory (QFT) is the framework that unifies quantum mechanics and special relativity, providing a theoretical foundation for describing fundamental particles and their interactions. Unlike quantum mechanics, which describes particles as wavefunctions evolving in time, QFT treats particles as excitations of underlying fields that pervade all of space. This shift in perspective is necessary to accommodate relativistic effects and to describe processes such as particle creation and annihilation, which are not possible in non-relativistic quantum mechanics.
The motivation for QFT arises from the limitations of single-particle quantum mechanics when applied to high-energy physics. In relativistic systems, particles can be created and destroyed in interactions, as seen in high-energy collisions and radioactive decays. Traditional quantum mechanics, which treats particles as fixed entities, cannot account for such processes. By formulating particles as field excitations, QFT allows for a consistent description of multi-particle interactions and naturally incorporates the principles of special relativity.
At its core, QFT extends the principles of classical field theory to quantum systems. Classical field theories, such as Maxwell’s electrodynamics, describe how physical quantities vary across space and time. In QFT, these fields are quantized, meaning that their excitations correspond to discrete particles. The simplest example is the Klein-Gordon field, which describes spin-zero particles like mesons. The quantization of this field leads to the interpretation of its solutions as particle states, obeying relativistic energy-momentum relations.

A lifelong fascination with all things bones. A four-decades-long hunt for the specimens of 2,500+ species past and present. An unwavering desire to preserve, appreciate, and display this rich history of life on Earth.
These things led to the establishment of the largest privately-held collection of osteological pieces in the world; a place where science displays are more like works of art ... capturing the attention of every eye that lands upon them, and telling a profound story without uttering a single word.
I'm Richard Jacobs. A casual trip with my family to a bone museum sparked a number of observations that I found too intriguing not to share.
Enjoy. And please, never stop being curious, and never stop asking questions – the good ones can lead to the greatest discoveries of mankind.

Discover the Lost Secrets of the Ancients and the Time When Stones Floated High over Egypt   Throughout history, folklore, and mystery, tales have circulated of massive stones being moved through the air effortlessly by sound. Bizarre? Well, yes, it is. That doesn't take away the fact that sound was, and still remains, the key to the construction of the pyramids of Egypt, Stonehenge, the stone figures of Easter Island, and the massive stones at Baalbek, Lebanon. Were they the work of ancient humans or of equally ancient extraterrestrials? How Antigravity Built the Pyramids delves into specific stories and theories:• A 9th-century story of a mysterious papyrus with the power to move large stones at the Giza Necropolis • The Mayan story of the construction of the Pyramid of the Magician said to be overseen by a small humanoid who could whistle large stones into place • Native American stories of ancient priests being able to make stones light to move easily    Author Nick Redfern argues it was not literally music and whistling that somehow raised large stones, but both have one thing in common: sound. Acoustics. Almost certainly, acoustic levitation was at the heart of these incredible feats. The truth of the science behind acoustic levitation was lost and forgotten for ages with little more left than fanciful tales of music, whistles, a curious papyrus, and strange metal rods that could achieve incredible feats in the air. Today, we are finally starting to get a grasp on this incredible technology, a technology that may have been the work of ancient humans, aliens from faraway worlds—or, perhaps, a combination of the two.
