  The fascination with Ancient Egypt has influenced architectural and artistic movements for centuries, culminating in what is known as the Egyptian Revival. This movement, characterized by its adaptation of ancient Egyptian motifs, emerged in response to rediscoveries of Egypt’s past. The revival gained traction during the 18th and 19th centuries, driven by archaeological discoveries, historical curiosity, and a growing appreciation for non-European artistic traditions. 
  One of the key moments that ignited interest in Ancient Egypt was Napoleon Bonaparte’s Egyptian campaign (1798–1801). This military expedition was not just an act of conquest but also a scientific endeavor that brought scholars, artists, and historians to document Egypt’s ancient ruins. The most significant outcome of this campaign was the publication of the “Description de l'Égypte,” a comprehensive collection of illustrations and studies that introduced Europe to the architectural grandeur of Egypt. The discovery of the Rosetta Stone in 1799 further fueled this fascination, as it eventually led to the deciphering of Egyptian hieroglyphics, allowing deeper insights into the civilization’s history and culture. 
  The widespread enthusiasm for Ancient Egypt in the early 19th century gave rise to what historians call “Egyptomania.” This cultural phenomenon influenced literature, fashion, decorative arts, and architecture. Egyptian imagery, including sphinxes, obelisks, and pyramidal forms, began to appear in European cityscapes. The influence was particularly noticeable in monumental architecture, where designers sought to capture the imposing and symbolic nature of ancient Egyptian structures. The fascination with Egypt was further fueled by colonial expansion, as European powers took a vested interest in the region’s antiquities.

  One of three volumes responding to the 7 October attack, Universities focuses on the heartland of contemporary antisemitic thinking, which is scholarship; and its reflection in student discourse on campus. 
  Contributions go back to Sartre and to debates of Marx’s time; another looks at the New Left forged in the civil rights movement, and shows how antisemitic responses to the 2023 violence were anticipated by some of the responses to the 1967 Arab League aggression. The feminist movement and ‘progressives’ more generally come under scrutiny, and there is analysis of antisemitism on campus after 7 October, showing how it is tolerated and protected there; including in archaeological attempts to deny that there is an ancient Jewish history in Israel. 
  This work will appeal to scholars, students and activists with an interest in antisemitism, Jewish studies and the politics of Israel.

  Briefly, almost every nation today is teetering on the brink of a societal meltdown as it finds itself in the midst of a sociopolitical upheaval, the like of which has not hitherto been witnessed in our lifetime. 
  Yet, hardly anyone realizes that like a winter that returns every year, such a concerted turmoil across the globe is also periodic due to what I have dubbed the "oqual cycle". 
  On the basis of scientific reasoning and mathematical modeling of history over the past 600 years, the oqual cycle posits that human civilization seemingly undergoes a sweeping global reset once every 84 years on average in order to purge itself of a plethora of wrongdoings from the societal ills through excesses and imbalances to transgressions amassed over that multidecadal period.

  The oqual cycle therefore lends human society a subtle albeit deadly mechanism to break ties with its dysfunctional past in order to begin anew rather than being held hostage from moving forward under its own weight, or even worse, continue down the rabbit hole in perpetuity with the potential for self-destruction. 
  Taken together, Summary of The Oqual Cycle is a must-read for everyone in that it will not only dramatically transform your perspective on how you view the world but it will also become your best companion to guide you as you navigate the dire fallout from the ongoing sociopolitical upheaval around much of the globe over the next decade or so.
