Sinossi

Moonquakes explores the fascinating seismic activity on the Moon, revealing a dynamic lunar world. These subtle vibrations, detected initially by Apollo missions, offer unique insights into the Moon's internal structure, including its core, mantle, and crust. The book highlights that moonquakes, though less intense than earthquakes, are crucial for deciphering the Moon's geological history.

Deep moonquakes, occurring hundreds of kilometers below the surface, are theorized to be influenced by Earth's tidal forces, demonstrating the interconnectedness of our celestial neighbor. The book begins with seismology and lunar geology fundamentals, then details the different types of moonquakes: deep, shallow, thermal, and impact-induced. By analyzing the frequency, location, and characteristics of these moonquakes, scientists can infer the composition and physical properties of the lunar interior.

Moonquakes culminates with a discussion of the implications of moonquake research for future lunar exploration, resource utilization, potential seismic hazards, and the search for water ice deposits.

HowExpert Guide to Phlebotomy is a glimpse into the life of being a phlebotomist in a private clinic, hospital, or plasma plant. It includes an in-depth description of the types of patients we see, the equipment we use, and how to perform blood draws. The most important part of our profession is drawing blood by inflicting the least amount of pain possible for the patient. This means that you need to be educated on the procedures for specific tests such as a Heparin Quant Assay, a PTINR, and Lipid Panels. If you don’t know these tests, odds are they will need to be redrawn, and the patient will have to undergo an unnecessary procedure. This is a safety problem since every time we puncture the skin of a patient, we risk introducing infection into their bloodstream. This book will also teach you about the order of draw, descriptions of veins, descriptions of patients, and a multitude of different scenarios. If you are beginning a career or are interested in beginning a career in phlebotomy, this book will give you a good foundation of knowledge to build upon with tangible experience.
    About the Author

After working at Biomat for 12 months, she transferred to Bryan Hospital to work in the laboratory department. She has fallen in love with performing phlebotomy in the hospital setting and now works at Nebraska Medicine, where she draws upwards of 60 people daily. Along with being a phlebotomist, she will be graduating from the University of Nebraska Lincoln in May of 2023 with her bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

Challenging everything we thought we knew, this book takes a revolutionary look at how humans are far less like other primates than we've been led to believe—and uncovers what truly sets us apart.Humans are primates, much like chimps—or so we've been continually told. Yet recent discoveries show that our species has a different brain design, function, and chemistry; different eating, sleeping, mating, and rearing patterns; a different metabolism; and a different physiology than apes. Nor is our behavior much like theirs, and we don't even have the feet made for climbing trees that define the primate order.Could it be that conceiving of ourselves as primates isn't helping us understand what it is to be human? By examining the latest research in neuroscience and genetics, we are propelled toward a radically different conception of our nature. In this way, we can begin to grasp the distinctively human dimensions of war, murder, suicide, and homosexuality, along with our fascinations with subjects like sports, politics, and fashion. Here is the path by which to understand our species' essential problems and uncover the answers for how we should live our lives.

“One of the best accounts of the reality of gentrification and urban development in China . . . grounded with solid historical, ethnographic and legal evidence” (Urban Studies). In recent decades, the centuries-old city of Shanghai has been demolished and rebuilt into a gleaming megacity. With its world famous skyscrapers, it now ranks with New York and London as a hub of global finance. But that transformation has come at a grave human cost. In Shanghai Gone, Qin Shao applies the concept of domicide—the eradication of a home against the will of its dwellers—to the sweeping destruction of neighborhoods, families, and life patterns that made way for the new Shanghai.   Shao gives voice to the holdouts and protesters who resisted domicide and demanded justice. She follows, among others, a reticent kindergarten teacher turned diehard petitioner; a descendant of gangsters and squatters who has become an amateur lawyer for evictees; and a Chinese Muslim who has struggled to recover his ancestral home in Xintiandi, an infamous site of gentrification dominated by a well-connected Hong Kong real estate tycoon.   Highlighting the wrenching changes spawned by China’s reform era, Shao vividly portrays the corrupt and rapacious pursuit of growth and profit, the personal wreckage it has left behind, and the enduring human spirit it has unleashed.
