"Under the Pyramids" (in draft form, also published as "Entombed with the Pharaohs") is a short story written by American fantasy author H. P. Lovecraft in collaboration with Harry Houdini in February 1924. Commissioned by Weird Tales founder and owner J. C. Henneberger, the narrative tells a fictionalized account in the first-person perspective of an allegedly true experience of escape artist Harry Houdini. Set in 1910, in Egypt, Houdini finds himself kidnapped by a tour guide, who resembles an ancient pharaoh, and thrown down a deep hole near the Great Sphinx of Giza. While attempting to find his way out, he stumbles upon a gigantic ceremonial cavern and encounters the real-life deity that inspired the building of the Sphinx. Lovecraft accepted the job because of the money he was offered in advance by Henneberg. The result was published in the May–June–July 1924 edition of Weird Tales, although it was credited solely to Houdini until the 1939 reprint. Despite Lovecraft's use of artistic license, Houdini enjoyed the tale and the two men collaborated on several smaller projects prior to the latter's death in 1926. "Imprisoned with the Pharaohs" has been suggested as an early influence on author Robert Bloch and as anticipating the cosmic themes in Lovecraft's later work, including "The Shunned House"

In this paranormal mystery series opener, a young woman with a gift for finding corpses helps an FBI agent investigate a serial killer.

There had been no attempt to bury the dead girl, naked except for the white ribbon tied to her wrist . . .

Twenty-five-year-old Julie Hall has a unique ability: when she takes up a dowsing rod, she finds not water but bodies. To Julie, it's a curse, not a gift, and one she rarely uses—she prefers her quiet life in a trailer, with her grandfather and her dog for company. But when FBI agent Garrett Pierce shows up at her door seeking help with a case, she has no choice but to assist with their search.

Three girls are still missing. The killer is still out there. As bodies are discovered and more girls disappear, the case becomes almost more than Julie can bear. And when the killer turns his sights toward her, even her growing relationship with the protective Agent Garrett may not be enough to save her.

    Praise for A Grave Calling

“Readers who pat themselves on the back for being able to anticipate twists may find themselves one-upped here. Roberts imbues Hall with a likable pluck and grit. She has a deft, witty touch. . . . There is genuine suspense as the danger hits close to home, and Hall and Pierce make for an arresting team. Readers of this taut mystery don’t need dowsing rods to detect series potential.” —Kirkus Review

Herbert George Wells (1866-1946) was a prolific English writer, now best remembered for his science fiction novels and often credited as being the father of science fiction"The Plattner Story" is the strange tale of Gottfried Plattner, the modern languages teacher at a private school in England, who while conducting a chemistry experiment, accidently causes a explosion. The results of the explosion are mysterious. First, Plattner disappears completely. Not a trace of him remains, despite the damage to the school being fairly minimal. For nine days, nothing is seen or heard of him, although many people locally have strange and very similar dreams about him. Second, after nine days, Plattner reappears in a very unusual and equally explosive manner. Third, when he reappears, he has been oddly transformed. His internal organs are all reversed. He is now left, instead of right-handed, and writes from right to left. Moreover, the tale of what happened to him during the nine days of his absence is quite extraordinary.
