Sinopse

Jane Clarke’s lyrically eloquent poems bear witness to the rhythms of birth and death, celebration and mourning, endurance and regrowth. An elegiac sequence, inspired by the loss of her father, moves gracefully through this second collection. Rooted in the everyday and backlit by mystery, here are poems to savour and return to, for the pleasure of finely honed lines that powerfully evoke the depth of our connections to people, place and nature. Jane Clarke’s first collection, The River, was published by Bloodaxe in 2015 to both critical and public acclaim.

Mr. President came to ABC radio in 1947 and lasted until 1953. Each half-hour drama was based on an actual incident in the life of one of the men who have held the office of President of the United States. The scripts were cleverly written in such a way as to not reveal the name of the President until the last line of dialog in the program, when the President would be addressed by name. The audience was thus encouraged to guess, from the plot of the episode, which President he was. The series was created by Robert G. Jennings and produced and directed by Dick Woolen. The stories were written by a team that included Jean Holloway, Bernard Dougall and Ira Marion. An expert research staff made certain that the facts depicted were accurate. Each and every week, the Chief Executive was portrayed by the same actor, Edward Arnold. Arnold appeared in over 150 films and had served as President of The Screen Actors Guild (1940-1942). A lifelong conservative Republican and staunch anti-Communist, Arnold was one of the first actors to seriously consider running for public office. After losing a close election for Los Angeles City Alderman in the mid-1940s, he expressed his views afterward that entertainment and politics were incompatible. Of course, he has been proven wrong numerous times since then. Enjoy 12 half-hour episodes of Mr. President, one of the best historical dramas ever heard on radio.

What do you do for a fifth anniversary? We decided to have a collection of short works with a difference. We challenged our readers to find any short works which had 'five' in the title - in any language. They have done us proud, and the collection extends to three volumes of short stories, poems, fairy tales, memoirs, non-fiction and bible readings, in six languages. This is the first volume. A collection of love poetry about the Divine Love journey and the timeless principles of Traditional Wisdom. This book of mystical poetry is written for the lover inside all. A modern day Rumi, according to some readers, Suhail has journeyed to the secret garden where the Divine Masculine and Feminine rejoice, in union, ignited by the celebration of their love. And has returned to share his poetic findings here in Flames of Love. Using the language of the lovers, Suhail's poetry conveys that this secret garden is not an ephemeral fairy tale; rather it exists in the space between, which resides within us all. Where the great love story lives on, to ignite our own. Suhail's writing helps us all to continue to expand in the appreciation of the Divine Masculine and Feminine.. Through its poems readers are reminded where the flames of true love reside, knowing that this love is eternal, and can never be extinguished. And through Suhail's honouring of the Divine Feminine, it permits female readers to find safety and permission to honour their own Femininity, with every reading, strengthening this relationship in the external. This magical book of poetry is more than words. For those who are open, it is an opportunity to reunite with your beloved, over and over again. Nourished by Suhail's translation, this book will spark your imagination; the infinite space where lovers' passion cannot be contained. Written by the author of Many Mansions the Amazon number three best selling spiritual book.

"All children were a mixture of innocence and guile, Chris Blackie thought, but the innocence had been squashed out of Bobby McGilvrey unnaturally young."
A shocking murder rocks the quiet coastal Victorian town of Queenscliff, a place where police work usually entails minor traffic infringements and dealing with the occasional Saturday night drunk. Local senior constable Chris Blackie and his deputy Anthea Merritt fully expect a murder investigation to be handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit based in Geelong. But they’re blind-sided by the interest shadowy figures from the secret military training base on nearby Swan Island take in the case. Consigned to the edges of the investigation and fearing an imminent wrongful conviction, Chris and Anthea defy their superiors to follow their own lines of enquiry — at great personal risk.
A worthy addition to Dorothy Johnston’s sea-change mystery series, The Swan Island Connection follows on from Through a Camel’s Eye, once again bringing the Australian coastal town of Queenscliff to life.

“I am large, I contain multitudes”
Walt Whitman published his first collection of poetry, Leaves of Grass, in 1855. Whitman spent most of his professional life writing and revising it multiple times until his death.
It was highly controversial during its time for its explicit sexual imagery, and Whitman was subject to derision by many contemporary critics. Over time, however, the collection has infiltrated popular culture and been recognised as one of the central works of American poetry.
