Robert Louis Balfour Stevenson was a Scottish novelist, poet, and travel writer, and a leading representative of English literature. He was greatly admired by many authors, including Jorge Luis Borges, Ernest Hemingway, Rudyard Kipling and Vladimir Nabokov.
Virginibus Puerisque: With the single exception of Falstaff, all Shakespeare's characters are what we call marrying men. Mercutio, as he was own cousin to Benedick and Biron, would have come to the same end in the long run. Even Iago had a wife, and, what is far stranger, he was jealous. People like Jacques and the Fool in LEAR, although we can hardly imagine they would ever marry, kept single out of a cynical humour or for a broken heart, and not, as we do nowadays, from a spirit of incredulity and preference for the single state. For that matter, if you turn to George Sand's French version of AS YOU LIKE IT (and I think I can promise you will like it but little), you will find Jacques marries Celia just as Orlando marries Rosalind.

“A man of God debates his next course of action when a penitent’s confession reveals startling information regarding a woman’s unsolved murder in this quiet mystery. A Lou Saulino solid crime story sharing the spotlight with a priest’s family and nagging doubts.” - Kirkus Book review
BLESS ME FATHER has captured the curiosity and evoked enthusiasm of law enforcement professionals and former Catholic priest. “Bless Me Father is a departure from Lou Saulino’s previous books about growing up with the love of sports. His first crime story hits it out of the ballpark….a great read and definitely a page-turner.” - John E. Sullivan Det. NYPD Ret.
“I liked this book. It is a tough, smart, and compassionate story. There are memorable characters. I know of no one who could have written a book like this. Lou has the real-life experience and the heart to give all of us the life-changing thoughts.” - P. Olsinski, Teacher, Counselor, Student of People
“Family, families---intertwined by: love and protection of each other, right or wrong; sports, sorrow and guilt, Bless Me Father entertains with a little sports history; but also is thought-provoking ---what, how do you honor faith, a memory and vows to ‘family’. An enjoyable weekend read.” - Cecile T. Woodward, Assistant Police Chief, Phoenix PD Ret

Nella Larsen's novella follows friends Irene Redfield and Clare Kendry, two Black women who can pass as white. Their anxieties about passing culminate in tragedy, revealing the powerful repercussions of hiding one’s identity, including the risks associated with it, and its implications for intimacy in romantic and familial relationships. Larsen uses the act of passing to refer to elements of subterfuge outside of the implied racial context, invoking the kinds of masquerade involved in assuming a class, ethnicity, or sexuality different than one’s own. Nearly a century later, Larsen's novella remains as urgent and relevant as ever.
