Sinopse

She can't stand him. He can't forget her. Love wasn't part of the plan.
When spirited Elizabeth Bennet meets the proud and enigmatic Mr. Darcy, sparks fly—and not the romantic kind. As misunderstandings, social pressures, and family chaos swirl around them, both must confront their pride, question their assumptions, and discover feelings neither expected. Their journey from friction to affection has captivated readers for over two centuries.

Celebrated as "the finest romantic comedy ever written," Austen's masterpiece blends sharp wit, unforgettable characters, and a love story that never loses its charm. It remains one of the most cherished novels in English literature.

War is that most awful and heinous display of man’s inhumanity.
And within the legions of slaughtered young men in the trenches of Western Europe, or the desperate carnage of battles fought elsewhere, were a group of men we now call the War Poets. Names such as Owen, Thomas, Brooke for example may still have a legacy that so eloquently describes the suffering, brutality and the waste of the human body and spirit, but so many others have left their words on a page and sunk to forgotten obscurity.
In this volume we bring together some of those forgotten talents whose verse still captures their time, and with it, valuable lessons on what might happen now ‘lest we forget’.

A camp old man collides with Gay Liberation and gets a new lease of life; a gay bandsman can’t grieve for his lover killed in an IRA bomb – until he’s thrown out of the army for being gay; a gay man and a lesbian decide to have a baby, but their partners plot to stop it; the bombing of the Admiral Duncan pub devastates not only the victims but their friends. Queen Victoria and Oscar Wilde – repression and liberation – battle for supremacy; there can only be one victor.

Each poem challenges the boundaries between suffering and transcendence, offering a voice that is both intimate and universal—a meditation on mortality, resilience, and the sacrifices we make for the sake of understanding ourselves.

Many times in life we cannot see what is in our future, or what is coming down the road. In those moments, we have to walk by faith, not by sight. Being blind, Debby has had many of those experiences, as a parent, counselor, grandparent and someone who simply loves life. Her faith in a God who loves us shifts that frightening scenario into one of confidence and peace. In this book, through stories and poetry, she describes some of those moments where she has walked by faith, not by sight, both spiritually and literally. Chapter 1 is about a water slide. "In reflecting on that experience, I at first thought that I perhaps should have asked more questions. Perhaps I should have known that it was three stories up with lots of curves and bumps. But maybe not. If I had known all that, I might would have opted out. And just think of all the fun I would have missed." Debby (Zook) Green was born in Central Pennsylvania into a Mennonite pastor's family, one of five children. With normal sight at birth, she gradually lost her vision and by the age of 20, had only light perception. That did not stop her from completing college and having a career in counseling, first as a rehabilitation counselor with the state of Kentucky and then as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. She was married and has a daughter and two grandsons. Stories about those early years of sight loss can be found in a previously published book, Debby. Currently, she resides in Elizabethtown, Kentucky where she is active in her church, Calvary Assembly of God. She provides counseling services through her private practice, Transformation Christian Counseling and makes frequent trips to Tennessee to hang out with her grandsons.
