Sinopsis

Ordinary lives. Extraordinary insight.

Dubliners, the groundbreaking collection by literary titan James Joyce, captures the everyday moments of working-class Dubliners with unflinching honesty and emotional precision. Each story, from Araby to The Dead, paints a vivid portrait of paralysis, routine, epiphany, and the small, personal struggles that define a life.

Written in prose both sparse and poetic, Joyce's characters are deeply human, caught in quiet conflicts, failed dreams, and sudden revelations. The stories may be short, but the themes—identity, nationalism, alienation—are profound.

💬 "The modern short story begins here."
A must-read for fans of Virginia Woolf, Edgar Allan Poe, and Ernest Hemingway.

The Adventure of the Gloria Scott , one of the 56 Sherlock Holmes short stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is one of 12 stories in the cycle collected as The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes. It is chronologically the earliest case in Sherlock Holmes canon. This story is related mainly by Holmes rather than Watson, and is the first case to which Holmes applied his powers of deduction, having treated it as a mere hobby until this time. This is one of the two Sherlock Holmes stories in which a protagonist is haunted by an old acquaintance for an old crime. The other is "The Boscombe Valley Mystery". It is also one of his many stories that deal with the fate of characters who return to England after having spent time abroad in the colonies of the British Empire. The Gloria Scott was an episode of the animated series Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century, in which the titular prison ship was a spacecraft en route to the Moon. The 1954 "Sherlock Holmes" series loosely adapted the story for its episode "The Case of the Blind Man's Bluff", changing the name of the ship to the "Gloria North".Famous works of the author Arthur Conan Doyle: A Study in Scarlet, The Sign of the Four, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes, The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Return of Sherlock Holmes, The Valley of Fear, His Last Bow, The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes, Stories of Sherlock Holmes, The Lost World.

“The Seed of McCoy” written by Jack London: The Pyrenees, her iron sides pressed low in the water by her cargo of wheat, rolled sluggishly, and made it easy for the man who was climbing aboard from out a tiny outrigger canoe. As his eyes came level with the rail, so that he could see inboard, it seemed to him that he saw a dim, almost indiscernible haze. It was more like an illusion, like a blurring film that had spread abruptly over his eyes. He felt an inclination to brush it away, and the same instant he thought that he was growing old and that it was time to send to San Francisco for a pair of spectacles.
