  Air Commodore John Langer's career has been eventful to say the least. During the Second World War he flew gliders in India in preparation for airborne assaults in Burma, one of the most perilous landscapes to pass across during this time. Post-war, he served on a fighter squadron in Germany and in Malaya, where he was recommended for an AFC. Later on, he commanded No 43 (F) Squadron, the famous 'Fighting Cocks', and was awarded the AFC. As a Group Captain, he commanded RAF Valley and was awarded the CBE. He ended his RAF career as director of Flying Training where he set up the first team of the Red Arrows. By careers end, he had flown fifty-six different types of aircraft.On leaving the RAF, he became the Civil Aviation Security Adviser to the UK Government, serving for eight years as a Crown Servant and a further seven years as a consultant. He was a frequent advisor to the Cabinet Office Briefing Room 'A' (Cobra), consulting with members of the cabinet on national and international aviation matters in the wake of a series of security and terrorist emergencies. In 1993 he was appointed Duty Lieutenant for Greater London, with responsibilities for the borough of Hillingdon, location of both Heathrow and Northolt airport. He looked after members of the Royal Family in their departures from these airports and became a good friend of Princess Diana, chaperoning her on a number of solo outings. Interesting details relating to some of their exchanges are included here. This is a unique autobiography, taking in a vast spectrum of events and experiences. It is also an important record of political, aviation and social history and should appeal to enthusiasts of all these areas of interest.

  Born in war-torn China in 1942, Chi Fa was orphaned at the age of three.He was shuffled from relative to relative and sold to an abusive Communist village chief.  At the age of nine, he was the caretaker for a mute epileptic.  He briefly found a loving home as a kitchen helper to a nearly blind neighbor, only to lose this haven after nearly burning down her hut.  Following a harrowing escape from China with his older brother, wife and son, Chi Fa found himself in a refugee camp and the provider of food for the entire family.  Moving to Hong Kong, Chi Fa supported his family by begging, until an aunt helped them emigrate to Taiwan.  Feeling betrayed by his older brother, in the autumn of 1955 he struck out on his own by joining the workforce.  In 1969, he immigrated to the United States, following a dream he had had for 14 years.   
   
  Double Luck is filled with examples of how the human spirit can triumph over adversity.  In the Chinese language, the word "crisis" is written with two symbols: one meaning "danger" and the other meaning "opportunity".  Although Chi Fa's childhood was filled with crisis, he always looked for opportunity.His successful triumph over crisis after crisis is an inspiration for all who seek hope in the face of great challenges.

  The Chartered Vendor book is a story of the life of Jerry More Nyazungu, an Entrepreneur and the Founder and Group CEO of the M&J Group. He is very Passionate about Entrepreneurship and High Business Performance and is a results-oriented business leader who is passionate about Driving Results for Businesses, both Large and Small. Jerry grew up in the rural areas of Watsomba, in Mutare. 
  For High School, Jerry was educated at Marist Brothers in Nyanga for O Level and Hartzell High School in Nyanga for his A-Levels. 
  Upon finishing his A-Level Studies, instead of Going to University, Jerry took an unconventional route that was uncommon in his day. He chose to follow an alternative path to get educated. 
  He moved to Harare to start a new life independent from his home base in Mutare. 
  Upon arrival in Harare, he got his first job at Edgars Stores where he worked for 6 months as a shop attendant until his contract got cancelled the same day he was given an ultimatum to move out by the people he was living with. 
  Desperate to earn a living, he invested the money he had to start a Vending Business where he sold Airtime, Cigarettes and Sweets at Corner Patrenta and Willowvale in Harare. 
  It was a harsh time that taught him some of the most valuable lessons he learnt, thus the motivation for the Chartered Vendor Book.

  Many Jews did not die in concentration camps, but were murdered in their lifelong communities, slaughtered by mass killing units, and then buried in pits. As a young girl, Mania witnessed the horrors while doing everything within her power to subsist. She lived in Włodzimierz, north of Lvov (Ukraine), was interned for three years in the labor camp nearby, managed to escape and hid in the forests until the end of the war. 
  Although she was the sole survivor of her family, Mania went on to rebuild a new life in the United States, with a new language and new customs, always carrying with her the losses of her family and her memories. 
  More than 75 years after liberation, we are still witnessing acts of cruelty born out of hatred and discrimination. Living among the Dead reminds us of the beautiful communities that existed before WWII, the lives lost and those that lived on, and the importance to never forget these stories so that history does not repeat itself.
