Sinopse

In some Worlds, Society depends on Technology to expand its horizons. In the Victorian world of the Wonder, Magic is the leading light. It powers an Empire through an Industrial Revolution towards boundless possibilities, including the invasion and colonisation of any neighbours who may have reserves of Magic themselves.
In the follow-up to Blood Red, heroes and villains are forced together to defend their world against a smoke belching threat believed extinct for centuries. Despite the use of ancient magic and unlikely allies, a far-flung colony is forced to its knees as betrayal and treachery spread like a virus on both sides of an old war.

A “hugely entertaining” history of the 1980s New Wave music scene told through new interviews with its biggest artists (Rolling Stone).  Mad World is a compelling oral history that celebrates the New Wave music phenomenon of the 1980s via new interviews with 35 of the most notable artists of the period. Each chapter begins with a discussion of their most popular song and leads to stories of their history and place in the scene, ultimately painting a vivid picture of this colorful, idiosyncratic time. Mixtape suggestions, fashion sidebars, and quotes from famous contemporary admirers help fill out the fun. Participants include members of Duran Duran, New Order, The Smiths, Tears for Fears, Adam Ant, Echo, and the Bunnymen, Devo, ABC, Spandau Ballet, A Flock of Seagulls, Thompson Twins, INXS, and more.   “One addictive chapter after another.” —Rob Sheffield, author of Talking to Girls About Duran Duran   “Tells the tale of some of the decade’s most unforgettable songs . . . in fascinating detail, letting the architects of these memorable records shine a light on how the sound of a generation came to be.” —The Hollywood Reporter   “The new wave era is often dismissed for its one-hit wonders and silly haircuts, but [Mad World] examines the period with a great deal of love and reverence.” —Buzzfeed   “A really informative and insightful read.” —People

The author was himself a recruiting officer, and possibly gathered all the materials for this play on the very spot where he has placed his scene—Shrewsbury. He has dedicated the piece "to all friends round the Wrekin," and has thanked the inhabitants of the town for that cheerful hospitality, which made, he adds, "the recruiting service, to some men the greatest fatigue on earth, to me the greatest pleasure in the world."The life of Farquhar was full of adventures.—As a student, he was expelled from the college of Dublin, for adventuring profane wit upon a sacred theme, given to him by his tutor for his exercise. As an actor, he forsook the stage in grief and horror, on having unknowingly made use of a real sword, instead of a counterfeit one, by which he wounded a brother performer, with whom he had to fence in a tragedy, nearly to the loss of his life.As a dramatic writer, Farquhar was eminently successful; and in his military capacity, he was ever honoured and beloved—whether fighting with a great army in Flanders, or recruiting with a small party in Shropshire.(Mrs Inchbald (In preface to the publication)) Cast list:Captain Plume, Recruiting Officer: Peter TuckerCaptain Brazen, Recruiting Officer: NegatronMr Worthy, a gentleman of Shropshire: TriciaGSerjeant Kite: ToddHWThomas Appletree, recruit: SteveTonerCostar Pearmain, recruit: Zames CurranJustice Balance: Kristin GjerløwJustice Scale: Zames CurranJustice Scruple: catharmaidenBullock, a Country Clown: alanmapstoneConstable: Anna SimonServant: John N.
