Summary

One bathroom. Two people. One day. A relationship witnessed in minute, devastating detail.
A story of intimacy, fragility and the darker side of love, Jack Thorne's Mydidae exposes the private and disturbing moments a couple share, and explores what becomes of a relationship when it is held together not only by love, but by fear, guilt and despair.
'A two-hander full of unexpected menace that probes and chips at its characters, peeling back layers of skin... a potent piece of writing' Exeunt Magazine
'Like a punch in the gut... what makes all of this not only bearable but completely transfixing is the unmistakeable honesty of the writing' Whatsonstage.com

Poetry from “one of America’s most consistently interesting singer/songwriters” (Stephen King).   Fans who have enjoyed the lyrics and music on such albums as Cardinology, Easy Tiger, and Prisoner, or hit songs including “When the Stars Go Blue,” know that Ryan Adams is a poet at heart. In this follow-up to his first collection of poems, Infinity Blues—praised by Stephen King as “a passionate, arresting, and entertaining book of verse”—readers will discover new ideas, deeper insights, and graceful, sensual compositions that reveal another side of Ryan Adams.   “Ryan Adams writes with equal parts precision and recklessness; the blood he draws from the text is easily as unnerving as its unapologetic tenderness. He is proof that poetry will find its writer.” —Mary-Louise Parker

The story is about Elinor and Marianne, two daughters of Mr Dashwood by his second wife. They have a younger sister, Margaret, and an older half-brother named John. When their father dies, the family estate passes to John, and the Dashwood women are left in reduced circumstances. The novel follows the Dashwood sisters to their new home, a cottage on a distant relative's property, where they experience both romance and heartbreak. The contrast between the sisters' characters is eventually resolved as they each find love and lasting happiness. Through the events in the novel, Elinor and Marianne encounter the sense and sensibility of life and love. In this dramatic reading, Librivox volunteers lend their voices to bring Jane Austen's classic story to life. (Summary by Wikipedia and wildemoose)Cast:Narrator: Bev J. The Bard of the Yukon ~ Banker, Hobo, and Klondike Poet
A downloadable PDF of Klondike Gold Rush illustrations is available on the Resources page at https://BookHip.com/FTCLVRT
Robert William Service was born in Lancashire, Engand in 1874. His mother was an heiress and his father a bank cashier. He was the eldest of 10 children.
When Service was 4 years old, he was sent to his grandfather and his 3 aunts in Scotland to live. He wrote his first poem two years later.
He was, it seemed, destined to be a poet and a wanderer.
In a 1958 CBC television interview, Canadian journalist Pierre Berton asked then 84 year old Robert Service why he had left Scotland and immigrated to Canada.
"I wanted freedom," said Service. "I wanted adventure. I got the idea, I want to be a hobo."
By the time the Klondike gold rush began, Robert Service was in San Francisco, carrying a hobo's bundle tied to his bindle stick. He used to stand in the street watching the gold prospectors marching off with their sacks, but he never dreamed of going himself.
"I was just a bindle stick," he told Burton. "How could I? I had no money."
Service wandered from California to British Columbia. He arrived in the Yukon in 1905 as a bank clerk and it was there where, surrounded by veterans of the gold rush, he began writing verses about the Yukon.
His first book of verses, Songs of the Sourdough, was published to acclaim in 1907, and was reprinted 10 times within the first year. Before his death in 1958, he had published over 1,000 poems and 45 verse collections.
The 2-room cabin in Dawson City where Robert Service lived from 1908 until his departure from the Yukon in 1912 is maintained as a Klondike National Historic Site by Parks Canada in honor of the Bard of the Yukon.
