Synopsis

After the breakout success of his early work for stage and screen, Jack Thorne turned for inspiration to his own family for a series of plays about hope, idealism and domestic politics. The work in this collection – five full-length plays and two shorts – showcases his extraordinary ability to combine electrifying dialogue with heartfelt warmth, candour and humour.

In the early 1960s, the Hungry Generation revitalized Bengali poetry in Calcutta, liberating it from the fetters of scholarship and the fog of punditry and freeing it to explore new forms, language, and subjects. Shakti Chattopadhyay was a cofounder of the movement, and his poems remain vibrant and surprising more than a half century later. In his 'urban pastoral' lines, we encounter street colloquialisms alongside high diction, a combination that at the time was unprecedented. Loneliness, anxiety, and dislocation trouble this verse, but they are balanced by a compelling belief in the redemptive power of beauty.

This book presents more than one hundred of Chattopadhyay's poems, introducing an international audience to one of the most prominent and important Bengali poets of the twentieth century.

Thank you for purchasing my book, "Kevin Goes to Japan 3: Stories for Japanese Learners, JLPT N5 to N1." Some of them would realize that the range of the level is more comprehensive than before. Because this book is just before the last book, I wanted to focus on telling the story. Therefore, some Japanese sentences would be complicated for early learners. However, reading many books is good practice to understand the language, and you need to have the skill to guess unknown words by seeing the context. The word lists are more than Kevin 2, showing many vocabularies, and I keep writing topics from each chapter.
But 15 JLPT sample questions come with each chapter, a total of 180 questions for N5 to N3. I believe that advanced learners need to read books that understand more natural Japanese. Instead of sample questions, please try to use expressions you can find a list, "Miscellaneous (Idioms, expressions, proverbs, etc.)."
Tomoko teaches Kevin Kanji radical that Japanese language questions include in this book in this story. JLPT wouldn't ask radical, but if you know the basic rules, it helps to give extra knowledge about this language and its origins.
In the story, Kevin wants Yukio to fall in love with Tomoko, and you can see how his love strategy works. However, the day Kevin's working holiday visa expires is coming, and he and Yumiko's relationship will be swirled.
I hope you enjoy this story as a bilingual novel as well.

Here, in a London training centre, people prepare to help strangers on another side of the world. There, a city is burning.
Here, Sarah gets a meal deal. There, people are in danger. Here, Khaled watches a training video. There, there are men with guns. Here, Sarah and Khaled flirt with each other. There, an aid worker looks after a refugee.
    Suddenly – here becomes there.
In Sami Ibrahim's play Multiple Casualty Incident, roleplay, desire and compassion intertwine, revealing the limits of help, the beginnings of harm and the complexities of humanitarian work. It was first performed at The Yard Theatre, London, in 2024, directed by Jaz Woodcock-Stewart.

In this follow up to her best-selling debut collection of poetry ("Enough Rope" from 1926) Dorothy Parker published "Sunset Gun" (1928) her second of three volumes of short verse. One of the 20th century's most celebrated and renowned humorists, Parker once again delivers a biting, satiric and insightful look at love, life and literature in this brilliant collection. Dorothy Parker - social commentator, political reformer and legendary wit - has enjoyed a special place in American culture and "Sunset Gun" is another early example of Parker's unique and wry commentary on modern life. It is presented here in its original and unabridged format.

What difference in a little poetic structure? Across 17 traditional forms of poetry–from ballad and sonnet to ghazal and ZaniLa Rhyme–writer, podcaster, and educator Steve Chisnell juxtaposes similar poems in both traditional styles and free verse, "Poetry of Form and Release," to explore the effects of poetic construction on meaning itself. Along the way, his speakers find their lives torn, unraveled, or dangling as they wrestle with aging, memory, love, myth, and the promise of language. From Waywords Studio, Chisnell's first book is a layered and provocative collection rich in ironies and meanings found not merely in its words but in the patterns beneath them, not merely in the verse but in the spaces between. The book includes an extensive section of author notes on the inspiration for the poems and as a primer on the meaning in forms. More extensive materials for classroom students and teachers are also available.
