Sinopse

Fresh off their victory over the demon lord Bifrons, Makoto’s party joins Princess Sophia on a political trip to broker an alliance with Great Keith. However, diplomacy quickly goes out the window when the party is attacked by Great Keith’s Hero of Incandescence, who is known to be the strongest hero of them all. On top of that, Makoto soon hears rumors that one of his former classmates has been captured and sold into slavery. As the Roses delegation tries to get to the heart of the matter, they find themselves facing another one of the Snake Sect’s nefarious plots. And though Makoto has thwarted them before, this time, he’s at a distinct disadvantage—Great Keith, with its desert climate, has hardly any water elementals! Can Roses secure a mighty new ally? Or will both nations fall into the hands of demons?

"It is a novel of atmosphere, and the atmosphere is of that sort very dangerous for the English novelist, the atmosphere captured so supremely well by Thackeray the green-lighted, close-scented gambling rooms, the shabby adventures of half-deserted spas, the shelving beaches of foreign watering-places, concealed accents, stolen passports, impoverished counts and impertinent ladies' maids.... Trollope's most serious attempt to escape from his own personality." - Walpole (Summary by )

"True Wind" is a fantasy adventure story set in a secondary world where magic exists and so do merfolk (although not in the form traditionally depicted in similar stories). Moonheart, a young merman of the Calm Winds tribe, is sent on a mission to rescue a human (or "drylander") woman from the clutches of another drylander country's enemy nation. He must also take his young, vulnerable sister, True Wind, so that she may discover her destiny. The story features:  A secondary fantasy world filled with magic and other strange things A young merman's struggle with bravery and conflicting loyaltiesA young secondary antagonist who hopes to discover her destiny, even if it means facing dangerA dangerous rescue mission performed in an unknown, foreign landA climactic and unexpected resolution
The story begins with a depiction of the lives of Moonheart and his fellow merfolk but soon transforms into a suspenseful adventure where the stakes are high and a false or ill-considered move can mean disaster. You will follow Moonheart's quest to protect True Wind at any cost, even if it means denying her destiny. He may learn, however, that destiny is not something one can thwart, no matter how determined they may be.

It was in the 1950s that mafia boss, Don Amato Rizoso, determined it was time to enter the lucrative human trafficking business. Five dedicated Rizoso mafia wives stepped up to work tirelessly for one desperate purpose: to rescue innocent girls their cutthroat husbands were
trafficking in for modern day sale.

While, operating in a netherworld teeming with greed and corruption, the wives officially opened business after their daring rescue of multiple sex slaves from a mafia-owned opium den. As they adjusted to their life of vigilante justice, they faced near rescue misses, they helped set-up a daring underground railroad, and they took down the notorious Cocaine Queen. Amidst betrayal, mass slaughter, forbidden love, and a son whose secret threatened his life, they learned that fighting for what they believed in was anything but easy. Two Serious Ladies is the only novel ever written by the legendary and underappreciated modernist Jane Bowles. Long held as a visionary cult classic, this subversive, anarchic, and riotous novel follows two upper-class women as they strip off their propriety and descend into debauchery.

The book's two serious ladies want to break away from the constraints of being themselves. Christina Goering and Frieda Copperfield each embark on their own voyage of discovery and emancipation. Mrs. Copperfield visits Panama with her husband, but finds herself falling in love with a prostitute and descending into a shadowy and seedy demimonde of brothels and bars. Miss Goering abandons her family for an austere island existence, only to yield to a series of increasingly sordid encounters with strange men.

At the end, the two women meet again, each transformed by her experience; the listener transformed by the devastating wit, strange clarity, and lack of nicety with which Jane Bowles vivisects society and women's place in it.

This new edition weds Bowles's daring and her authority as we restore her to her rightful place as an unparalleled modernist writer and thinker.
