Together, these theories provide a unified framework for understanding the large-scale structure of the universe, the motion of celestial bodies, and the nature of gravity itself. 
  The foundation of special relativity rests on two key postulates: (1) the laws of physics are the same in all inertial reference frames, and (2) the speed of light in a vacuum is constant for all observers, regardless of their relative motion. These postulates lead to several counterintuitive but experimentally verified consequences, such as time dilation, length contraction, and the relativity of simultaneity.
