Summary

To Heaven's Heights is an eclectic collection of ski stories from world famous authors from Leni Riefenstahl to Garrison Keillor, by way of Ian Fleming and Bill Bryson. Spanning one thousand years and with contributions from over 60 authors, the anthology celebrates skiing as a means of transport, communication, hunting, exploring, and latterly as an Olympic sport and a leisure activity enjoyed by millions around the globe. With writings of accidents and avalanches, magic and mystery, these stories are for children and grown-ups, ski racers and armchair athletes. Proceeds from the book will go to Snow Camp, the UK's National Snowsports charity, giving young inner-city children the opportunity to experience the mountains and in many cases turn their lives around. www.snow-camp.org.uk

Fit 2 Finish examines the reason injuries are rising in our youth athletes, how traditional training in today’s sports environment is contributing to the problem and provides the method and means to right this course, better preparing players to fend off injury as they develop in the game. Goal: to educate coaches about how training can contribute to injury and instruct them in adopting healthy training techniques that are fun and effective for the kids they coach or train. Uniqueness: F2F teaches coaches how to include healthy physical preparation with their team. It makes them practitioners of the F2F method with age-appropriate drills and games they can take directly to the field. Techniques will be supported by online video for visual reinforcement and shareability. The method is broad but the application can be tailored by the coach directly for his/her players. The F2F training plan is PRE-injury movement training, designed for the young soccer player (8-14+ years) to develop healthy sport movement that will prevent future injuries.

Relentless tells the story of the rise of Cork ladies football between 2005 and 2016. Having never won a senior title in the sport in 2004, by 2016 the team had won ten All-Ireland titles in eleven years. Mary White takes the reader behind the scenes and shows what made the Cork ladies footballers one of the most successful teams ever in the history of Irish sport.
The book was shortlisted for the 2015 Setanta Ireland Sports Book of the Year. This edition contains a new afterword from the author, bringing the story up to the present day.
'It would have been disastrous if the best team in Irish sport had passed into history without their story being told. Luckily for them and for us, Mary White was there taking notes right from the beginning and can give an outsider's view with an insider's knowledge. It's not often that happens. A great insight into a truly great team.' – Malachy Clerkin, The Irish Times

On the Water is a gorgeously written collection of essays that all take place on or near the water and pay tribute to the flora and fauna associated with those ecosystems. There are essays about the finer points of tickling rainbow trout in the streams of Normandy, and of eagles and ospreys fishing for bass while barely breaking the surface of the water. There are stories of droughts and floods, of dogs and boats, of worms and rattlesnakes, and even of catching and cooking soft-shell turtles that taste like osso-bucco.There is fishing and diving in the Bahamas, tarpon fishing in the Florida Keys, and fly fishing for sailfish in Central America. And there are larger-than-life personalities that are bigger than the fish tales they tell! On the Water is a finely honed and well crafted collection of tales for the true sportsman and makes for a perfect companion volume to la Valdene's celebrated collection of essays on hunting.

When Tom Rodwell embarked on a cricketing tour of India, he had only ever thought of the game as great fun.

But the simple joy of the local street kids when his team donated their kit to them made him realise that it could be more than that.

By turns touching and amusing, and imbued with a deep love of the game, Third Man in Havana is the story of the charity cricket programmes 'Major' Tom Rodwell has helped run around the world, and of the people he has encountered along the way.

From Be'er Sheva Cricket Club pavilion in Israel – a converted nuclear bomb shelter, useful in the face of Hamas' regular rocket attacks – to a game of tapeball cricket with ex-Tamil Tiger child soldiers behind barbed wire in Sri Lanka, Rodwell discovered that the heart of the game is beating fast in countries more used to conflict than cricket.

Third Man in Havana is a wonderfully positive story, revealing that the spirit of cricket is alive and well.

As a journalist whose career spans three decades, CNN correspondent Tom Foreman has reported from the heart of war zones, riots, and natural disasters. He has interviewed serial killers and been in the line of fire. But the most terrifying moment of his life didn't occur on the job-it occurred at home, when his eighteen-year-old daughter asked, "How would you feel about running a marathon with me?"My Year of Running Dangerously is Foreman's journey through four half-marathons, three marathons, and one fifty-five-mile race. What started as an innocent request from his daughter quickly turned into a rekindled passion for long-distance running-for the training, the camaraderie, the defeats, and the victories. Told with honesty and humor, Foreman's account captures the universal fears of aging and failure alongside the hard-won moments of triumph, tenacity, and going further than you ever thought possible.
