Synopsis

In "The Critique of Judgment," Immanuel Kant meticulously explores the intricate relationship between aesthetics and teleology, positioning judgment as a critical faculty that bridges the domains of the sublime and the beautiful. This seminal work is divided into two main sections, the Critique of Aesthetic Judgment and the Critique of Teleological Judgment, offering profound insights into the nature of human perception and the principles governing our appreciation of art and nature. Kant employs a distinctive philosophical style, combining rigorous analysis with eloquent prose, reflecting the Enlightenment's quest for objectivity and universality amidst subjective experiences. Immanuel Kant, a central figure in modern Western philosophy, was significantly influenced by the Enlightenment ideals of reason and freedom. Writing "The Critique of Judgment" in 1790, he sought to bridge the gap between empiricist and rationalist thought, examining how aesthetic values and notions of purpose resonate within human consciousness. Kant's rich intellectual heritage, including his engagement with the works of Rousseau and Hume, profoundly shaped his inquiries into the aesthetic and teleological dimensions of human experience. This book is essential for those interested in philosophy, art, and science, offering a fundamental understanding of how we evaluate and appreciate beauty and purpose. Readers will find Kant's reflections not only intellectually stimulating but also highly relevant to contemporary discussions surrounding aesthetics and the nature of judgment.

My career was being trained as and working as an Engineer mostly for Fortune 100 companies.
In parallel with that I’ve also been working on spiritual enlightenment and developing my paranormal abilities for the last fifty years.
This unusual combination of skills has led me to my passion of writing about the paranormal and many “out of the box” concepts and topics. I’ve actually written twelve books about the paranormal based on my experiences and research into these topics.
One topic which has always fascinated me has been how many paranormal experiences are usually interpreted by mental health professionals as delusional and mentally ill behaviors.
My thinking is that most people have spiritual and paranormal abilities and these cause experiences which can overwhelm some people to make them fit the diagnosis of them having mental illnesses.
Certainly there are a lot of legitimate mental illnesses which cause the need for treatments by mental health professionals.
But what happens when persons having these experiences may be normal and stable in their other behaviors but these experiences are so far beyond the norms of society that others think they are “crazy” and therefore treat them as such?
I’ve heard and read a number of stories over the years where I wonder if they were real experiences which might have just caused the person who lived them to have a nervous breakdown.
This book is my effort to help people understand the interfaces of real paranormal experiences and mental illness and how to tell which is which.
Also, what additional therapies can be used to help people who may be overwhelmed by these experiences?

Some stories begin before you arrive. This one begins with a death that no one was allowed to name.
Lana Stasek was that arrival — born five years later, into the space her unborn brother left behind. He was erased before she arrived. His presence stayed — in the weight she carried without explanation, in the guilt of simply being here, in the sense that she was living for two.
She grew up in Lisichansk, Eastern Ukraine, in a family where trauma didn't have a name — it had a belt, a slammed door, and a grandfather who hid cash in pots while his wife slowly lost her mind. Where women faded quietly, and no one called it what it was.
She eventually made her way to America with no language and no safety net, carrying all that inherited silence in luggage she never agreed to pack.
But this is not only her story. It's a portrait of everyone who left a mark — the grandfather who was cruel and kind with the same hands, the friend she was "allowed" to have, the husband who existed mostly on paper, the boy nobody protected and found again thirty-five years later. People who shaped her, broke something in her, or quietly put it back together. She doesn't just remember them — she takes them apart, with psychological precision, dark humor, and the kind of honesty that makes you recognize someone from your own life on every other page.
Each chapter is its own world — a person, a scar, a truth that waited too long to be said. You don't have to go in order. Neither did she.
This is the kind of book that makes you pause mid-listen and think — I know exactly what that feels like. And then immediately want to call someone. Or never speak to them again.
This is not comfort listening. It's the kind of honesty that makes you set down whatever you're doing and just... sit with it.
Narrated by Megan Tusing (Law & Order, Blue Bloods, Person of Interest) — an actress who knows how to hold darkness without flinching and brings every layer of this story to life.

A small play in three acts. A kind of comic tragedy. The plot tells the story of the interaction between two very different families in rural England just after the end of the First World War. Squire Hillcrist lives in the manor house where his family has lived for generations. He has a daughter, Jill, who is in her late teens; and a wife, Amy, as well as servants and retainers. He is "old money", although his finances are at a bit of low ebb. The other family is the "nouveau riche" Hornblowers, headed by the single-minded and rich industrialist Hornblower, who throws old retainers the Jackmans out of their home (much to the Squire's disgust), and who plans to surround the Hillcrist's rural estate with factories.
