With the onset of Prohibition, the Sheehan Billiard Room in Chicago became a sordid haunt for hard drinkers. A certain Old Bugs, a mature man corroded by vices but capable of showing, at long intervals, the typical sensitivity of educated people works as a kitchen cleaner. "I was pretty blown away by this story. It was full of twists and turns that I never saw coming. Plus, it had a steamy, romantic side infused into the pages which made me cheer the main couple on. Karen and Joel seemed like the average couple who fell in love because they lived in the same area around a Lake in Michigan. In the dead of winter, these two's passion becomes entangled with something insidious lurking in Joel's house. Karen tries to uncover the mystery, and ends up neck deep in a mystery that spans lifetimes where a cold blooded killer with brilliant green eyes become set on her demise. Scary, right?" ~ Voracious Reviews

Welcome to Icon audiobooks at their most terrifying, Provocative and mysterious. Here is a classic audiobook which reaches across the waters of time deep to the inner recesses of the darkest corners of the human mind. Whether or not these are truly horror stories depends on the always fragile state of mind of the attentive listener, But they are dark, often foreboding, and delightfully full of dread. Perhaps more than pure horror they are rather cautionary tales displaying the depths of nameless immortality, criminality and insanity which has plauged humankind from time immemorial. Or perhaps they are something more - a frightening window into the dark unknown, the otherworldly, and truly evil. One thing for sure however, this jarring, well crafted tale of desperation, death, violence and deparvity has the power to rattle the expectant listener to the very core as well as opening doors which might better stay closed taking us upon roads which should not be thoughtlessly travelled, and alleyways to misadventure which wander off into the weeds of self doubt and numbing isolation. Still, the silent pull to take this unexpected trek into the unknown is strong may well lead you into a room full of mirrors where you might not like all that you see... but don’t worry friends, I’ll be with you every step of the way!

In this “sublime work of dark fiction” set during WWI, werewolves roam the trenches and the Catholic Inquisition continues its grim work in the shadows (Intravenous Magazine).   When a priest is brutally murdered in the French city of Arras, Poldek Tacit—a brutally efficient Inquisitor—arrives on the scene to investigate the crime. His mission: to protect the Church from those who would seek to destroy it, no matter what the cost. As Tacit strives in vain to investigate the murder, he must also uncover the reason why other Vatican servants seek to undermine him. Meanwhile, a beautiful and spirited woman, Sandrine Prideux, warns British Lt. Henry Frost of a mutual foe lurking beneath the killing fields—an enemy that wreaks its havoc by the light of the moon.   Faced with impossible odds and struggling with his own demons, Tacit must battle the forces of evil—and a church determined to achieve its aims at any costs—to root out a dark conspiracy that seeks to plunge the world into even deeper into conflict.
