Summary

The unthinkable has happened: the imperial capital is under siege by the Three Nations Alliance thanks to a surprise attack, which will divide the Empire in two. The Empress and the Empire’s paltry forces at the scene must rally in a bid to evacuate what people and structures they can, and buy time for the capital’s relocation. Lafier and Jint are charged with saving the Empire’s culturally significant artifacts, even while Lafier’s brother Duhier is stranded behind enemy lines.

An American heiress nicknamed the Manitou Princess (after her daddy's richest silver mine) is devastated to find that her fiancé only loves her money, so she does what anyone might do: she bolts for Europe, dons male attire and sets out on a walking tour of the Alps, passing as a teenage boy. Though professing hatred of all men, she soon falls in with a just-jilted English lord, aptly named Monty Lane, who is attempting to walk off a broken heart of his own. The Princess Passes presents the ups and downs of their alpine relationship through the unpenetrating eyes of Lord Lane. Why, he wonders, is he thus drawn to this beautiful youth? And has the boy a sister?Co-author Alice Livingston, of Poughkeepsie, New York, mentions in her memoirs that she sailed for Europe after a boyfriend tried to shoot her. In London she met literary editor Charles Williamson and began writing for the story magazines of media mogul Lord Northcliffe. At one point she found herself scribbling six serials simultaneously, on the income from which she and Williamson married. She later spun some of her husband's detailed descriptive notes made during their motor-trips abroad into a string of bestselling novels involving automobiling, then a novelty. The central romantic action of The Princess Passes recalls comic situations of Shakespeare's cross-dressing heroines and is bookended by automobile-themed sequences as the narrator and friends (hero & heroine of the Williamsons' first novel, The Lightning Conductor) motor south through the magnificent, peaceful mountain passes of pre-World War I Europe. Post-nuclear America has changed little since the primal leveling of the twenty-first century. Warrior survivalists Ryan Cawdor and his band live by a code that honors the kind of absolute freedom only a raw frontier can provide. Until rumors of a wider, more prosperous world than the Deathlands thriving deep in Mexico, untouched by the nukecaust, lure them into uncharted waters... Captured by the pirate foot soldiers of the mysterious Lords of Death, Ryan Cawdor and his companions sail into a surreal world where electric lights blaze but blood terror reigns. In Veracruz, Mexico, Ryan is marked for slaughter, his effigy linked to an ancient deity. Helpless, Krysty, Dix and the others await a horrifying fate at the hands of white coats manipulating pre-dark plague warfare. As the Lords of Death unleash their demonic vision, hop—for Ryan, the others and nascent civilization—appears irrevocably lost.In the Deathlands, there's always something to fight for: one last chance.(Empire of Xibalba - 2 of 2)

When disloyalty is punishable by death, and the government is always watching…
…They can force you to marry, but they can’t force you to love.
Being promised to a stranger would be better than this, given away like an endorsement to the man that brought her nothing but heartbreak and betrayal. Especially when Dimitri is inconveniently even more attractive than she remembered.
With a citizen score of 1, and her father the Head of The New Russian Council, Yulia Bituskaya may be the highest ranked woman in the country, but she is still just a pawn in her father’s political ambitions.
When Yulia discovers the government’s dark secrets and learns the crimes go all the way to the top, all the way to her father, she has a dangerous choice to make…
Stay silent and safe, or lean in to her growing treason, and risk ending up in a re-education center or worse, shot like a traitor in Red Square.
Yulia needs allies if she is going to step into this dirty world and destroy it.
Dimitri is offering to help. But he’s too young to hold so much power and still have clean hands. Can she say yes to his protection and say no to her rediscovered desire?
Last time he left her heartbroken.
This time, if they’re not careful, they’ll both end up dead.
Cruel Compassion is a dystopian romance with lots of action and political intrigue. If you want a more grown up version of the Hunger Games, Divergent, the Uglies and Scythe, you'll love the first book in the Insurrection Series.

An evil omen clouds the sky. A song of lore returns. A choice that can heal the world... or plunge it into ruin.
Voran can’t help but believe the rumors. As blight ravages the countryside and darkness covers the sun, the young warrior of Vasyllia hears of an ancient spirit that devours souls. He feels powerless to fight the oncoming devastation until a mythical creature entrusts him with a long-forgotten song. Legend has it that such a song can heal the masses, overthrow kingdoms, and raise humans to divine beings…
Armed with the power of the song, Voran must hunt down the dark spirit before it achieves its goal of immortality. His quest takes him through doorways to other worlds and puts him on a collision course with seductive nymphs and riddling giants. With each step of the journey, the strength of the villainous spirit grows, as does Voran’s fear that the only way to save his world… is to let it be destroyed.
The Song of the Sirin is an epic fantasy retelling of the Russian fairy tale Prince Ivan and the Grey Wolf. If you like complex characters, creative twists on mythology, and cinematic world-builind, then you’ll love Nicholas Kotar’s sweeping tale.
