Sinopse

In "The Soul of a Bishop," H.G. Wells delves into the intricate interplay of faith, doubt, and the struggles of ecclesiastical life. Set against the backdrop of early 20th-century England, the novel follows the introspective journey of Bishop Charles Pendergast, who grapples with the expectations of his spiritual role while confronting the harsh realities of societal issues. Wells employs a rich, compelling narrative style infused with biting satire and philosophical musings, blending elements of both realism and allegory. The book reflects the era's shifting perspectives on religion and morality, illuminating the tension between institutional dogma and personal belief. Herbert George Wells, renowned for his pioneering contributions to science fiction and social commentary, drew on his secular humanist ideals and critical view of organized religion in crafting this narrative. His own experiences with faith and skepticism, along with his engagement with contemporary philosophical debates, deeply influenced "The Soul of a Bishop." Wells aimed to provoke thought and reflection on the true essence of spirituality, making the text a significant exploration of the human condition. For readers seeking a deep, thought-provoking examination of faith and moral integrity, "The Soul of a Bishop" is an essential read. Wells's masterful storytelling and sharp insights make this novel a compelling exploration of the existential questions that continue to resonate today.

The power and significance of the prayer Jesus taught.

Most Christians know the Lord's Prayer by heart. We pray it often, at different times and in different settings. We remember it as the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples. But do we really understand and appreciate the meaning and power of its words, what we ask of God each time we pray it?

When the disciples asked Jesus how to pray, Jesus gave them this prayer. He likely taught it to his followers often, not just one time. He never intended the Lord's Prayer to be a museum piece, framed and placed on a mantel or in a display case. It was Jesus teaching God's people, through his disciples, how to pray.

In The Lord's Prayer: The Meaning and Power of the Prayer Jesus Taught, pastor and bestselling author Adam Hamilton guides us to really know—and really pray—the Lord's Prayer. He explores each of its rich lines and their meaning in the Bible, illuminating what we ask of God and what we ask of ourselves through its words. And he teaches us how to use it as a pattern for our own prayer life.

    Is God Calling You? -...

How do you know if God is calling you or not? How can you know? Dr. Thiel gives many scriptures that help you know if God is calling you. Many verses from the Bible are presented to prove that it is only a very small flock that is being called by God during the church age, the age we are now in - John 6: 65 "Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father." Not everyone is being called by God at this time.
Are you one of the elect? Are you one that is being called now? If so, why? Why is God calling you now? What is the purpose of your calling? Dr. Thiel answers this question with another verse from the Bible - 31 even so these also have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you they also may obtain mercy. 32 For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all. (Romans 11:31-32). God is calling you now so that, through you, God might have mercy on all!
What an awesome calling! You, if you accept God's call and overcome until the end, will have the opportunity to help multiple thousands, perhaps millions of others come to God in the age to come - 26 And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations — (Revelation 2:26).
If you are being called now, Dr. Thiel provides verses that prove you were predestined to be called. But you must accept that calling. The choice is up to you. God won't force you to become part of His family.
If God is calling you, what about the others? Are they lost? No! Dr. Thiel makes plain with many scriptures that God wants to have mercy on all, each in their own order.
He is calling you now to help you develop Godly character. God's character is love. By developing true Godly love you will help make eternity a better place for all.

    Read by the author.
The gospel is under attack today--not only from outside cultural forces but also from within the church. In Misled, popular YouTuber and Bible teacher Allen Parr equips readers to identify and withstand seven of the most common false teachings that undermine the gospel and lead many well-meaning Christians astray.
For an anxious and weary world, the gospel of Jesus Christ is the one true source of deep peace and lasting joy. But today, many supposedly Christian teachers are spreading ideas that amount to what Paul called "another gospel."
The result? A generation of believers confused about what God really says, what he offers, and what he wants for his children. From the heavy burden of legalism to an overemphasis on prosperity or spiritual gifts to warped understandings of grace, every false teaching has two things in common: they all use half-truths that look and sound biblical (making them very difficult to identify) and they all harm and discourage those who are trying to follow the way of Jesus.
In Misled, Allen Parr weaves together stories from his own spiritual journey and the lives of those he's ministered to in order to show the painful consequences of following false teachings and to provide clear explanations of what the Bible really teaches about the gospel. Readers willlearn about seven of the most misleading and harmful messages that run rampant within the church today;be equipped to identify not only "wolves in shepherd's clothing" who peddle counterfeit gospels, but also well-intentioned teachers whose half-truths are no less harmful to the church; anddiscover how they can find the freedom, peace, and joy that only comes from embracing the gospel in all its purity and simplicity.

With the same balanced, Bible-based approach that has made Parr's YouTube channel a go-to resource, Misled offers clarity and hope for anyone who has felt discouraged or confused in their spiritual journey—and invites readers to find everything they've been searching for in the true gospel.
