Summary

Miau - My name is Kitty the Kitten and I tell about the first year of my life through photos. I was born in the Finnish countryside in April and moved to a new home in June. As a puppy, I was wild and lively - carpets displaced and flowerpots on the floor. I was always playing and running around. I visited the nearby hamlet and beaches with my household. The photo book will also reveal the sort of drinking cup, which never runs out of water.

This thought-provoking collection of original material, translated from Russian includes interviews with Dr. Buteyko covering the development of his ideas from 1962 to 1998 and his main CEOB ( Conscious Elimination of Deep Breathing ) manual. It is important because it provides insight into the power of his method when used by trained practitioners, especially in a clinical setting. His visionary and disciplined approach to healing was so successful that it threatened the medical establishment which unfortunately reacted by trying to suppress it but it managed to survive because of his independent mind, tenacity, and determined character.
The interviews complement each other well, adding interesting details of his life and work and also supporting the previously translated important 1969 Buteyko Lecture at the Moscow State University which sums up his achievement to that date and then adds information on the subsequent development of his thinking.
Here is a summary of the main chapters:
    1. 1962 interview while he was Head of a functional Diagnostics laboratory within the Siberian branch of the USSR Academy of Science.
    2. 1982 interview covers the development of his theoretical ideas and practical work in further detail.
    3. Large practical guide ( CEOB Breath Retraining Manual ) showing his systematic approach to 'the Conscious Elimination of Deep Breathing' in sick patients in a clinical setting.
    4. 1997 Buteyko answers questions by callers on a public radio program
    5. Interview with a Siberian newspaper in 1998 when he was 75 where he talks about his work and medical and spiritual perspective.
    6. Interview on Ukrainian Television in the late 1980s with a detailed restating of his work where he advocates for breathing retraining centers in Ukraine and Russia.

An intrepid scientist and her fiancé—National Geographic's 2007 Adventurers of the Year—observe the changing ocean while rowing across the Atlantic.   In 2005-06, Julie Angus and her fiancé Colin rowed 10,000 kilometers across the Atlantic Ocean—from Lisbon to Costa Rica—making Angus the first woman in the world to travel from mainland to mainland in a rowboat. The 145-day journey gave Angus, a trained biologist, a unique perspective on the ocean. The slow-moving boat became an ecosystem unto itself, attracting barnacles, dorado fish, trigger fish, turtles, sharks, whales, birds, and more, which she was able to observe and document.   Angus also saw unmistakable signs of the ocean’s devastation, with far more plastic bottles, wrappers, toys, and bags than sharks or other once-common sea life. Four cyclones, including two hurricanes, hammered the small boat so intensely that Angus and her companion weren't sure they would survive. Rowboat in a Hurricane records this amazing journey in meticulous, dramatic detail, in the process offering a personal record of an awe-inspiring ecosystem, its fascinating denizens, and the mounting threats to its existence.

A guided meditation designed to help you become unstoppable. The secret to motivation isn’t bludgeoning your brain with daily affirmations trying to convince yourself that you are motivated when you are not. The key to motivation is a MIND game.Want access to unlimited motivation? You’ll need to shift your mindset. In this guided meditation, we will find your motivation, the often forgotten but essential success ingredient. When you are motivated, you are a veritable powerhouse. But motivation can easily be undermined by self-sabotaging behaviors and beliefs. Get Motivated has been designed carefully to sweep away your fears of failure and feelings of unworthiness so that you can access the motivation that will make you unstoppable. This guided meditation comes with two valuable ‘extras’:1.	2 different endings. Besides the actual guided meditation itself, you will receive a choice of a ‘sleep’ or ‘wake’ ending depending on whether you are listening in the morning or evening.2.	A deep sleep music track. If you choose a sleep ending, this track will help deepen your sleep after you have completed your meditation session. Hi:) I’m Amy Applebaum. And I’m really glad you are here!As a business owner who has made millions and a Life Success coach who has coached dozens of ambitious women (and some men), I believe very strongly that success is just as much about ‘how you think’ as it is ‘what you do’.Success is first and foremost an Inside Job.I have seen it in my own life.I’ve seen it with the entrepreneurs and industry leaders I have worked with whose lives have been wildly transformed just by changing their thoughts and then taking actions on those new beliefs.Let’s face it. We have a lot on our plate. And those of us who are running our own businesses even more so.We are giving so much to the world around us.But things won’t shift until we get those birds on our shoulders to stop the negative chitchat. And the best fastest way to cut the self-doubt in its tracks is through meditation. And I make doing meditation dead easy.My MOVE collections are guided meditations. You don’t have to learn the ‘ins and outs ’of meditation. All you need to do is throw those earbuds in and drift off to sleep!Downloaded over 500,000 times on places like iTunes and Audible, my MOVE meditations don’t just ‘relax’ and destress, they are specifically designed to help you get MOVING and unstuck. So that you can finally live the life you have always wanted!“I must say I am so impressed with how well this is working for me. I use it every morning before I start my day and I have found I am more motivated than I have been in a very long time. I am no longer procrastinating on things that I don’t want to do. Rather, approaching them with a whole new mindset. It feels great to accomplish those tasks and as a result, I have more confidence in my daily life. Thank you!” ~Zeph22Isn’t it time? Isn’t it time to set aside the roadblocks that are impeding you from being the most motivated version of you?And it’s so easy.Just put the earbuds in and listen.Nothing simpler. All you need to do to open the door to motivated living the EASY wayis waiting for you here.

The Royal Society's Science Book of the Year"...Henry Gee presents a pithy, fascinating account of the stages of biological evolution. He's a deliberate, engaged narrator whose slow pacing will require adaptation. This and creative background music and sound effects (dinosaur sounds?) create a meditative and friendly listening experience. From spineless water creatures and egg-laying reptiles to mammals and the great apes, the concise details associated with each evolutionary advance give this audiobook a generous texture."- AudioFile "[A]n exuberant romp through evolution, like a modern-day Willy Wonka of genetic space. Gee’s grand tour enthusiastically details the narrative underlying life’s erratic and often whimsical exploration of biological form and function.” —Adrian Woolfson, The Washington PostIn the tradition of Richard Dawkins, Bill Bryson, and Simon Winchester—An entertaining and uniquely informed narration of Life's life story. In the beginning, Earth was an inhospitably alien place—in constant chemical flux, covered with churning seas, crafting its landscape through incessant volcanic eruptions. Amid all this tumult and disaster, life began. The earliest living things were no more than membranes stretched across microscopic gaps in rocks, where boiling hot jets of mineral-rich water gushed out from cracks in the ocean floor.Although these membranes were leaky, the environment within them became different from the raging maelstrom beyond. These havens of order slowly refined the generation of energy, using it to form membrane-bound bubbles that were mostly-faithful copies of their parents—a foamy lather of soap-bubble cells standing as tiny clenched fists, defiant against the lifeless world. Life on this planet has continued in much the same way for millennia, adapting to literally every conceivable setback that living organisms could encounter and thriving, from these humblest beginnings to the thrilling and unlikely story of ourselves. In A (Very) Short History of Life on Earth, Henry Gee zips through the last 4.6 billion years with infectious enthusiasm and intellectual rigor. Drawing on the very latest scientific understanding and writing in a clear, accessible style, he tells an enlightening tale of survival and persistence that illuminates the delicate balance within which life has always existed.A Macmillan Audio production from St. Martin's Press
