Sinopsis

The popular adventure novelist William Lancaster was the son of a Royal Navy captain and wrote under the pseudonym of Harry Collingwood. He studied at Royal Naval College, Greenwich and distinguished himself by carrying off many prizes. He joined the Royal Navy as a midshipman at the age of fifteen, but due to severe near-sightedness, he was forced to abandon his chosen career. Instead, he became a civil engineer, specialising in harbour commissions. In his spare time, he turned to writing adventure yarns and historical novels, almost always with a nautical setting. His novels reveal his informed knowledge of the genre and an untiring ability to construct compelling and original adventure stories. For the first time in publishing history, this eBook presents Harry Collingwood’s complete works, with numerous illustrations, rare texts, informative introductions and the usual Delphi bonus material. Talks of the Sixteen Adornments” is a soulful and nostalgic journey into the rich traditions of Indian womanhood. Through poetic prose, Pratibha Srivastava ‘Ansh’ beautifully captures the emotional and cultural significance of the Solah Shringar — the sixteen traditional adornments of a married Hindu woman. From the gentle sound of bangles to the symbolic vermilion in the hair parting, from the fragrance of henna to the sacred bindis and anklets, each ornament is a story in itself — of love, memory, sacrifice, and grace. This audiobook is a heartwarming tribute to Indian customs, relationships, and the feminine spirit across generations. Perfect for listeners who love literature that weaves tradition with emotion.

"The Gift of the Magi" is a short story by O. Henry first published in 1905. The story tells of a young husband and wife and how they deal with the challenge of buying secret Christmas gifts for each other with very little money. As a sentimental story with a moral lesson about gift-giving, it has been popular for adaptation, especially for presentation at Christmas time. The plot and its twist ending are well-known, and the ending is generally considered an example of comic irony. It was allegedly written at Pete's Tavern on Irving Place in New York City. The story was initially published in The New York Sunday World under the title "Gifts of the Magi". It was first published in book form in the O. Henry Anthology The Four Million in April 1906.Among the most significant works O. Henry: "The Duplicity of Hargraves", "A Retrieved Reformation", "The Cop and the Anthem", "The Gift of the Magi", "The Skylight Room", "After Twenty Years", "Conscience in Art", "The Caballero's Way", "The Last Leaf", "The Third Ingredient", "The Ransom of Red Chief", "Makes the Whole World Kin".
