Sinopse

In "No Moss; Or, The Career of a Rolling Stone," Harry Castlemon presents a captivating narrative that explores the adventurous life of young men in the burgeoning American frontier. Written with vivid descriptions and a spirited tone, Castlemon'Äôs novel captures the zeitgeist of late 19th-century America, reflecting the values of individualism and exploration that marked the period. The protagonist's escapades serve as a conduit for deeper themes of personal growth, the pursuit of freedom, and the moral complexities inherent to human experience. This work mirrors the literary tradition of American realism, employing relatable characters and scenarios that resonate with the reader's own quest for identity and purpose in an ever-changing world. Harry Castlemon, a pen name for the prolific author Charles Adams, was deeply immersed in the cultural currents of his time, influenced by his own experiences of travel and the outdoors. His background as a publisher and educator equipped him with a unique perspective on the challenges and triumphs faced by adventurous young people. Castlemon'Äôs dedication to portraying honest, youthful exuberance stems from his belief in the transformative power of adventure and the value of resilience. I highly recommend "No Moss" to readers who appreciate classic American literature and are seeking an engaging narrative that probes the essence of youthful ambition and discovery. This novel not only entertains but also invites readers to reflect on their own paths in life, making it a timeless addition to any literary collection.

JUPITER RISING – THE CELESTIAL CHRONICLES
Book 5 of 6 - The Cry of Europa
This story is summarized as follows:
When Research Station Galileo falls silent on Jupiter’s moon Europa, Captain Minerva Voss and her crew discover a nightmare—the researchers driven mad or dead by contact with a crystalline substance from the subsurface ocean. Venturing below the ice, they encounter the Abyssal, an ancient aquatic civilization guarding a terrifying truth: Jupiter (Jove) is a sentient cosmic entity, bound by humanity’s forgotten ancestors. The Abyssal reveal humanity’s engineered origins and the Syndicate’s quest to weaponize this knowledge (Project Ixion). As Syndicate forces attack, Minerva uses her Sagittari medallion to erect a psychic barrier, protecting the Abyssal’s secrets. The survivors escape, but Minerva now bears the weight of cosmic revelation—Jove’s awakening is inevitable, and the Syndicate’s hunt for control has only begun. Europa’s cry echoes a warning: some truths are too vast for unprepared minds, and humanity’s past may dictate its survival.
This is the fifth of six audiobooks in the series and I do hope you enjoy this fourth instalment, and it's only $3, all subsequent will remain at that price.
The initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 1/2 minutes and prepares you for the start, synthesizer, bass and cymbals in a soul/funk form. The closing music ends the tale on a darker tone and at about 2 minutes and the same musical instruments, genre and industrial/fearful mood but with more caution added.
The story itself runs to about 30 plus minutes and is narrated in my own voice.
I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come!

Tom Read Wilson is here to take us on a rip-roaring tour through some of the most astonishing and amusing words in the English language with Every Word Tells a Story. See how the English language evolved in this extraordinary exploration of the origins of everyday words. Full of funny stories and fascinating facts, Tom Read Wilson knows even the most ordinary-sounding word can have the most surprising story behind it! Did you know, for instance, that: The word ‘bloomers’ comes from Amelia Bloomer, who was a women's rights activist and owner and editor of the first U.S. newspaper edited by and for women, who wanted to move more freely in her knickers? Or that the word ‘daisy’ comes from the Old English dæges eage, meaning ‘day’s eye’, because the petals of a daisy open at dawn and close at dusk? The word 'easel' comes from the Dutch word 'ezel', meaning donkey, because both are depenable and suitable for carrying a load? Or that English nicknames for police officers, 'bobbies' and 'peelers', both come from the names of Sir Robert Peel, British prime minister in the 1800s and creator of the first modern police force? Each fascinating word is explored through a quirky, amusing story alongside the etymology, word origin, and definition. Every Word Tells a Story is a perfect book for young wordsmiths, encouraging kids and adults alike to have fun whilst learning about language.
