A stunning memoir by a writer and mental health advocate about motherhood, postpartum mental health, and finding ground when you lose all control. When writer and blogger Ayana Lage became pregnant, she prepared as any parent would: voraciously researching, Redditing, preparing for anything. And having experienced a previous miscarriage, she braced herself for the worst. But days after giving birth, Ayana’s sense of control began to break when God started speaking to her. After growing up Pentecostal and longing to hear from God, she heard him audibly for the first time—and often. God told her that she had been chosen. He told her that her daughter was the second coming of Jesus Christ. She carried around notebooks to ensure she didn't miss any divine words. Eventually, she was diagnosed with post-partum psychosis and sent to a psychiatric ward, unable to see loved ones or her baby and sometimes unsure whether she'd actually had a baby at all. Her once-rational thought process was consumed with delusions, and overnight, the self-professing people-pleaser turned into a fearless charismatic, obeying what she believed to be God’s orders—including pulling the fire alarm to force an evacuation in the hospital—and shouting at anyone who disagreed with her. Slowly, the medication and treatment began to work, and when she was well enough to be released, the hard road to recovery began. Ayana struggled to adjust to normal life after the breaks she endured—both the psychosis itself and the experience of feeling betrayed by her mind. Once a fierce mental health advocate, she still remained hesitant to share about psychosis, because of the stigma associated with this mental health disorder. Drawing from Ayana’s notebooks and medical records, Missing Me is a gorgeously-written exploration of the revelations Ayana received during her psychotic episode, the surprising lessons about her life and faith revealed in the aftermath, and the long road to trusting her mind once again.

Mark Twain, Bret Harte, Ina Coolbrith, and Charles Stoddard are the four San Francisco Bohemian writers of the 1860s who set the course for American literature. This Mark Twain Valentine audiobook tells the story of their love triangle.
Mark Twain made sure that his full true-life story would not be told for 100 years after his death, so this story has never been heard publicly before!
Make a date with your sweetheart to listen in!
Mark Twain became a credited author for the first time while in San Francisco, a hundred years before the Summer of Love, with the publication of The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County. Twain and the other San Francisco Bohemian writers were in their twenties at the time. The de Young brothers were in their teens when they started the San Francisco Chronicle with Mark Twain as a reporter!
Bret Harte was the leader and mentor of San Francisco’s Bohemian writers, and Mark Twain competed with Bret for the attention of the enchanting poet Ina Coolbrith. This is the story of how that turned out... details kept from the public for over 160 years.
Ina held salons in her home on Russian Hill for her Bohemian friends and their patrons, which became the foundation for the Bohemian Club. Ina later became Oakland’s first librarian (where she mentored Jack London) and became the first poet laureate of any state. But the love triangle occurred during an earlier, more tumultuous time as the American Civil War was being brought to a close and San Francisco grew in sophistication.
This two-hour audiobook is important California history told with the droll sarcasm unique to Mark Twain. It should not be missed!

Arnold Döring was just twenty-three years old when he flew his first mission against the Soviet Union on June 21, 1941. On that day he started writing his diary. His account not only describe the technical aspects and the difficulties posed by weather and terrain, but are also filled with suspense, with detailed descriptions of bombing raids and narrow escapes from enemy fighter planes. With detached professionalism, Döring offers us thrilling, action-packed snapshots of life as a Luftwaffe pilot. This volume of the diaries, translated into English for the first time, covers the period from August 1943 to May 1945, when the author was flying sorties as a nightfighter, including Operation Gisela, the largest and final operation of the Luftwaffe against the Allies. Despite experiencing crash-landings, near misses, terrifying night missions and precarious flights with too little fuel and under-trained crew, Döring survived through his skill and instincts, as well as a fair amount of luck.
