To say Asha West's life was in something of a slump would be a fairly accurate description. Her job wasn't as satisfying as it had been, as she knows it should be, and then there was her failed relationship with her first love. What she desperately needed was a change of scene.
Her family wants her to return home so she applies for and gets a position in Brisbane. With a couple of months before her new job begins she's approached to do some genealogical research, something she really enjoys doing, and she sees this as a sign her life might just be getting back on track. So she takes on a family history research project for the elderly Vivienne Chaseley who wants Asha to prepare a book for her stepson's sixtieth birthday.
The Chaseleys are well known as one of Brisbane's pioneering families and it seems they have found a collection of documents relating to the family's arrival in Brisbane in the 1800s. To work on the Chaseley family history Vivienne suggests Asha moves into Tyneholme, their wonderful old home overlooking the Brisbane River.
Asha is delighted to be working with Vivienne and the only drawback is the attractive, yet aloof, Peri Moyland, the granddaughter of Viv's childhood friend. Asha overhears Peri telling the elderly woman that she thinks it's unwise to take a complete stranger into her home. Peri warns Viv she will definitely be watching Asha, so, attractive or not, Asha knows exactly where she stands with the snobbish and obviously distrustful Peri Moyland. Asha wanted to prove to Peri that she was wrong, and for reasons she didn't want to examine too deeply.
Then Asha makes an exciting discovery that reveals more secrets from the family's past. And an almost earth-shattering one from the not so very distant past.

There's an unconscious Fae drooling on Len's couch. That's not even the weirdest thing to happen to him this week.
Len's been told that not all Fae are scheming, manipulative pricks. A moot point, since this one definitely is—he knows that much from bitter experience.
So, when his vampire ex-coworker dumps Albigard of the Unseelie on Len's doorstep, he gives her two hours to find a better hiding place for the Fae fugitive before tossing him straight to the curb with the rest of the garbage.
He should have known better, of course. Because if there's one thing Len's learned since being thrown into the deep end of the seedy paranormal underworld, it's that nothing is ever so simple.
Now he's on the run from a cataclysmic primal force trying to tear its way into the human realm, stuck with an annoying bastard who already knows way too much about the inside of Len's messed-up head. The first time he met Albigard, Len punched the Fae in his too-perfect face. This time, they'll have to learn to work together—or risk having their souls torn apart and consigned to the void, with the rest of humanity facing the same fate soon after.
The Wild Hunt has slipped its chains. Darkness is coming for the world.

“With candor and deep vulnerability, Mullen offers a compelling, honest, and hopeful memoir that examines the hidden truths involved in accepting our deepest wants and desires. The Only Way Through Is Out is a lesson to all of us on what great things can happen when we act with authenticity.”—Jessi Hempel, author of The Family Outing“I could not put this book down. Mullen shows us the search for one’s authentic self has no expiration date and is worth whatever it takes. This book is a glorious tale of tenacious courage that anyone searching for their own path in life will love.”—Jennifer Louden, national bestselling author of Why Bother? Discover the Desire for What’s Next Suzette Mullen had been raised to play it safe—and she hated causing others pain. With college and law degrees, a kind and successful husband, two thriving adult sons, and an ocean-view vacation home, she lived a life many people would envy. But beneath the happy facade was a woman who watched her friends walk boldly through their lives and wondered what was holding her back from doing the same. Digging into her past, Suzette uncovered a deeply buried truth: she’d been in love with her best friend—a woman—for nearly two decades—and still was. Leaning into these “unspeakable” feelings would put Suzette’s identity, relationships, and life of privilege at risk—but she knew taking this leap might also provide her only chance to feel fully alive. Introspective, bittersweet, and empowering, The Only Way Through Is Out is both a coming-out and coming-of-age story, as well as a call to action for every human who is longing to live authentically but is afraid of the cost.
