Alongside Baudelaire, Mallarmé, and Rimbaud, with whom he had a stormy relationship, Paul Verlaine is one of the most influential poets of the fin de siècle. He was one of the greatest representatives of the Decadent movement that began in the 1870s, and a leader of the Symbolists. His stylistic innovations brought a new musicality to French poetry; it was he who paved the way for modern poetry with its experiments in free verse and new techniques. Verlaine produced exquisitely crafted verse, conveying the strongest emotions and appetites. This translation by Gertrude Hall, herself a recognized poet, is one of the best rendering of Verlaine's work in English language.Ver libro
Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia merges science with human concerns and ideals, examining the universe’s influence in our everyday lives and ultimate fates through relationship between past and present, order and disorder and the certainty of knowledge. Set in an English country house in the year 1809-1812 and 1989, the play examines the lives of two modern scholars and the house's current residents with the lives of those who lived there 180 years earlier. The New York Times calls Arcadia: “Tom Stoppard’s richest, most ravishing comedy to date. A play of wit, intellect, language, brio and emotion,” and The Royal Institution of Great Britain calls it: “the best science book ever written.”Includes an interview with Steven Strogatz, the author of Nonlinear Dynamics and Chaos and professor at the Cornell University School of Theoretical and Applied Mathematics. An L.A. A touching one-person play about a person's true identity, the first English-language adaptation of Emmanuel Darley's hit play, Le Mardi à Monoprix. The “Songs of Innocence” were published in 1789 and republished in 1794 together with the “Songs of Experience”. They represent Blake's two perspectives on the world, that of the child (innocence) and that of the adult (experience). Blake's poetical works were largely neglected in their own time but are today considered some of the most brilliant of English verse. The “Songs” are presented here together with “Auguries of Innocence".Public Domain (P)2016 Spiders' House Audio/Roy MacreadyVer libro
In this poetry collection 'Ways to Say Goodbye'. Anne Kellas takes the listener through dream sequences, abstract and imagistic poems and deeply personal poems of loss. The effect is a cumulative building of a quiet world of reflective resilience as the poet tries out possible ways to do what is almost impossible – to love and to say goodbye."These poems, their accounts of the ways art, chance talk, angels, birds, memories and music can come at us with terrible and tender truths, are gifts that teach us how ‘to read the mind of clouds’."
