Slow travel is a mindset and approach to travel that focuses on immersing oneself in the local culture and environment, rather than just ticking off tourist attractions. It involves taking time to explore a destination at a leisurely pace, savoring the moments and experiences along the way. Slow travel often involves traveling by train, bike, or on foot, and staying in local accommodations or homes instead of hotels. This allows travelers to connect with the place and its people on a deeper level, fostering a more authentic and meaningful travel experience. It promotes sustainability, mindfulness, and a greater appreciation for the world around us. In this book, I will be sharing some of my own experiences with slow travel and the mind-shift changes that come with it.

Sea swimming is the great leveller; we're all the same in a pair of togs. No one minds who you are or what you've done; the question is 'are you getting in?' Popular for centuries, sea swimming has had a recent surge in interest, with a growing community now taking the plunge. Brendan Mac Evilly and Michael O'Reilly, enthusiastic members of this bathing fraternity, chart their adventures in forty-three of Ireland's most enticing places to swim. Along the way, they meet artists who come to the sea for inspiration and distance swimmers undertaking marathon sea swims. Their conversations with local dippers touch on the history and lore of these stunning locations and confirm Ireland's vibrant sea-swimming culture. Part guidebook, part travelogue, part analysis of our relationship with the sea, At Swim explores the thrills, fears and joys of sea swimming.

Humorist Patrick F. McManus has been called "a master at spoofing sportsmen" by Publishers Weekly. His rib-tickling books about hunting, fishing, and camping receive rave reviews from national media. The New York Times Book Review writes, "Everybody should read Patrick McManus." In the chapters of Never Sniff a Gift Fish, McManus will teach you the wisdom that is usually shared only in the close ranks of modern-day hunters and gatherers. To complete your arsenal, McManus also includes The Hunter’s Workout Guide and a special Family Camper’s Dictionary. Exercises like the hindquarter shuffle will make you move like a hunter. And phrases like "Yip-yip-yip-Owoooooo!" will help you sound like one, too. Whether he’s poking fun at fly fishing or taking on some other sportsman’s icon, Patrick F. McManus is sure to have you laughing aloud. Norman Dietz’s wry narration is the perfect vehicle for McManus’ best-selling, tongue-in-cheek works. John Leland's 'Itinerary' was the product of several journeys around England and Wales undertaken between 1538 and 1543. The manuscript is made up of Leland's notebooks, which were first published in the 18th century, and later in a ten-part, five-volume edition published by Lucy Toulmin (1906-10). Part IX of the manuscript begins in the south of England and gradually meanders its way, county by county, through central and northern England up to the borders of Scotland. Leland did not prepare the manuscript for publication and it is sometimes difficult to follow, with occasional geographically-misplaced sections, lists of headings with content yet to be added, and the odd lapse into Latin. Part IX of the Itinerary will be of interest, nevertheless, to anyone with an interest in English history as an early form of the 'gazetteer', compiled at a time when the shape of the country as a whole was still a mystery to most of its inhabitants. Leland's spellings tend to be inconsistent and for the most part I have used modern pronunciations unless a consistent spelling clearly indicates a different pronunciation. I have also omitted or modified a few short passages that would be otherwise incomprehensible. (Summary by Phil Benson)
