Sinopsis

Reverie turns deadly when a secret society of New Orleans elites is infiltrated by a killer in this classic 1930s mystery.

For years New Orleans has been enthralled by the secret society dedicated to Dis, Greek god of Inferno, whose membership of fifty is closely guarded from the press and whose rites burlesque the proud tradition of the city’s Mardi Gras festival. Lovely Cynthia Fontenay gives Dis a ball each year, with all members in attendance behind satanic masks and sinister robes of black and scarlet.

When murder strikes this charmed circle, a shadow is cast over the city. Homicide detective Captain Murphy once again enlists the help of Wade, a New Orleans journalist, to confront an investigation of fifty suspects. As their smoldering motives become front page news, the Crescent City awaits the finale of this chilling carnival of a case.

It’s the dog days of summer and Winterspell is going through town psychics faster than a werewolf sheds its fur after a full moon.
And let’s hope we don’t have one of those on our tail.
I’m supposed to be planning my wedding, but when a good deed leads me to the scene of a murder, my priorities take a sudden detour.
The investigation is off to a rocky start, especially when Sheriff Templeton is quick to dismiss the death as nothing more than a tragic accident.
However, the psychic's familiar has a different tale to tell, insisting it was murder most foul. Under threat of being put back on diet kibble, Selene must swallow her pride long enough to work paw-in-paw with a canine informant to sniff out the truth.
With suspects piling up faster than empty wine bottles at a bachelorette party, we’re racing against time to piece together the puzzle before the trail goes cold.
But with a prickly sheriff breathing down our necks and wedding plans demanding my attention, can we find the killer before they strike again? Or will this doggone mystery prove too much for even the sassiest of feline familiars?
**Mystic Meow is the latest magical cozy mystery in the Nine Lives Magic series by Danielle Garrett. These enchanting tales are full of hijinks, humor, and heart. The purr-fect read for anyone who wanted to adopt Salem from Sabrina the Teenage Witch.**

There was no mistaking the sound: it was that of a stealthy footfall, and it appeared to come from the staircase leading to the next floor.
Lord Bygrave left the Ministry on Friday evening, with plans for a fortnight's holiday in the country. But the following morning he had seemingly vanished into thin air. Now Scotland Yard are struggling to find evidence of foul play in the absence of tangible clues. A national newspaper is offering a reward for information about the Minister's disappearance - whether Bygrave be dead or alive.
Anthony "Algernon" Vereker, Lord Bygrave's friend and executor, joins Scotland Yard in their investigation of the mystery. So begins the first of five ingenious and effervescent detective novels featuring Vereker, an amiable and eccentric artist with a razor-sharp mind. Missing or Murdered (1929), is republished here for the first time in over 70 years. It includes a new introduction by crime fiction historian Curtis Evans.
'This is not only a detective story of considerable ingenuity, but it is also a well-written tale with good characterisation.' Times Literary Supplement

A master thief must build a team to escape a correctional center in this fast-paced, hard-boiled crime novel by the author of Firebreak.

With Parker locked up and about to be unmasked, Breakout follows his Houdini-like escape from prison with a team of convicts. But when a new heist and new dangers—con artists, snitches, busybodies, eccentrics, and cops—loom among the dark alleys and old stone buildings of the big city to which they’ve fled, Parker soon learns that not all prisons have bars.

    Praise for Breakout

“Fiercely distracting. . . . Westlake is an expert plotter; and while Parker is a blunt instrument of a human being depicted in rudimentary short grunts of sentences, his take on other characters reveals a writer of great humor and human understanding.” —John Hodgman

“Stark . . . applies his great wit and dexterous mental skills to a series of . . . ingenious exits and entrances in (what else?) Breakout. . . . Jampacked. . . . He writes with ruthless efficiency.” —Marilyn Stasio, New York Times

“Stark invites readers to project themselves onto the always-assured Parker, making him a frighteningly easy sociopath to root for. And watching knowledgeable bad guys ply their shadowy trade under pressure is always fun. An immensely pleasurable entry in the Parker series. . . . Simply put, Breakout is great escapist fiction.” —Booklist, starred review
