Sinopse

In "The Miranda Trilogy," Grace Livingston Hill presents a captivating narrative that intricately weaves themes of faith, love, and self-discovery within the framework of early 20th-century American society. Hill's prose is characterized by its lyrical quality and sharp attention to the nuances of human emotion, creating rich, relatable characters. The trilogy, encompassing three interconnected stories, explores the life of Miranda, a young woman navigating a world filled with moral challenges and societal expectations, ultimately leading her towards spiritual enlightenment and personal growth. The book is set against the backdrop of a period marked by both progressivism and traditionalism, reflecting the complexities of its time through Hill's deft storytelling. Grace Livingston Hill, often called the 'Queen of Christian Romance,' was a pioneer of her genre, drawing upon her own experiences of faith and familial love to craft her narratives. Born in 1865 to a family deeply rooted in religious values, Hill faced personal challenges that shaped her worldview and writing. Her desire to depict the transformative power of faith and love resonates throughout her works, making them timeless and relatable.

St. Thérèse’s Way of Trust and Love
"Here, then, is a way which, without giving to everyone assurance of reaching the heights to which God has led Thérèse, is not only possible but easy for all. As St Augustine remarks, not everyone can preach and perform great works, but who is there that cannot pray, humble himself, and love?" — Pope Pius XI.
Written in 1923, just twenty-six years after St. Thérèse’s death, The “Little Way” of Spiritual Childhood captures the excitement of the church's and eventually the world’s discovery of the “Little Way.” This spirituality that anyone can practice is founded in the Gospel’s call to “abandon oneself like a child in the arms of the Good Lord.”
Learn the “Little Way” as taught by St. Thérèse of Lisieux:
•Embrace humility as the “loved sight of our lowliness.”
•Live the spirit of poverty by looking to God for all
    	things.
•Trust in God’s Mercy and Justice.
    	•Love in the “Little Way.”
•Practice Holy Abandonment to God’s Will.
Includes extensive quotations from The Story of a Soul, her letters, and her poetry, as well as the Act of Oblation of Myself as a Victim of Holocaust to Merciful Love.

Aleister Crowley was born 12 October 1875. He was an English occultist, ceremonial magician, poet, painter, novelist, and mountaineer. He founded the religion of Thelema, identifying himself as the prophet entrusted with guiding humanity into the Æon of Horus in the early 20th century. A prolific writer, he published widely over the course of his life. Born to a wealthy family in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, Crowley rejected his parents' fundamentalist Christian faith to pursue an interest in Western esotericism. He was educated at Trinity College at the University of Cambridge, where he focused his attentions on mountaineering and poetry. Some biographers allege that here he was recruited into a British intelligence agency, further suggesting that he remained a spy throughout his life. In 1898 he joined the esoteric Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, where he was trained in ceremonial magic. Moving to Boleskine House by Loch Ness in Scotland, he went mountaineering in Mexico before studying Hindu and Buddhist practices in India. He married Rose Edith Kelly and in 1904 they honeymooned in Cairo, Egypt Crowley declared his followers should "Do what thou wilt" and seek to align themselves with their True Will through the practice of magick. Herein is a treasury of his long lost writings.

Accidental injury is the leading cause of death for Americans under the age of forty-five. From fatal traffic accidents to firearms injuries to casualties of war to a deadly virus passed to an elderly loved one, accidental harm dates back almost as far as our human stories go. When these accidents occur, they pose profound and agonizing questions: What do we do when a death falls somewhere between a murder and an insurance claim? What if we are responsible for such harm? Is healing even possible?

Rooted in research on moral injury, religious rituals of confession and cleansing, and psychology—as well as the hard-won wisdom of someone who has been there—Accidental explores the complicated reality of accidental death and injury and offers companionship to those affected by these tragedies. Author, military veteran, and Episcopal priest David W. Peters walks with us through his own lonely journey after he unintentionally killed someone in a traffic accident and the journey of his family, as his brother was killed by a bus. Peters investigates the cars, guns, and systems that put some people and communities at more risk than others, and then draws wisdom from ancient cities of refuge, where accidental killers could find asylum. Accidental helps listeners accept responsibility, see themselves in the stories of others, and find absolution and community.
