Gretchen Morgenson and Joshua Rosner investigate the insidious world of private equity, revealing how it leeches profits from everyday Americans, tanks companies it acquires, and puts our entire economic system at risk. They show how companies absorbed by private equity have worse outcomes for everyone but the financiers, such as employees losing their jobs, companies going bankrupt, patients having higher healthcare costs, residents of nursing homes dying, towns struggling, and public workers having lower returns on their pensions. These are the Plunderers exposes the greed and pillaging in private equity, revealing the many ways these billionaires have bled our economy and us.

    Anxiety Detox - Coping with...

This book consists of three titles, namely:
1 - Depression, also known as major depressive disorder, is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how a person feels, thinks, and acts. It is characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. Depression can lead to various emotional and physical problems and can decrease a person’s ability to function at work and at home.
2 - In an age where technology provides countless ways to connect with others, it’s paradoxical that many people are more isolated and lonely than ever. The proliferation of social media platforms, instant messaging apps, and virtual communities should, in theory, make us feel more connected. However, the opposite has often proven to be true. Instead of fostering genuine relationships, these digital connections can leave us feeling empty, misunderstood, and yearning for deeper, more authentic interactions. This phenomenon is what I call the paradox of loneliness—where the very tools designed to bring us closer together end up magnifying our sense of isolation.
3 - Panic attacks are sudden and intense episodes of overwhelming fear or anxiety. They can arise unexpectedly or in response to specific triggers, and typically reach their peak within minutes. During a panic attack, individuals may experience a rapid heartbeat, sweating, trembling, shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness, and a sense of impending doom or loss of control. Other symptoms can include nausea, stomach pain, chills, or hot flashes.

Dome of the Rock and the Church...

The most famous church in Jerusalem for nearly 2,000 years, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, often called the Church of the Resurrection, was built in the era of St. Constantine, and the church as a structure has no history separable from the city of Jerusalem and its environs. It is venerated as being on the site where Jesus was crucified and buried, and naturally, making it a crucial pilgrimage site for Christians, and it is now the home of the Greek Orthodox Jerusalem Patriarchate. Moreover, it was the site of many important councils, some of which altered Christian history forever. In short, the Sepulchre was and is synonymous with Jerusalem, and it was essentially the nodal center of the city.
Naturally, the Church has had a turbulent history just as Jerusalem has. The evidence that Christ's tomb was at that location was backed by the apostolic tradition and basic common sense. The local population had venerated this site since apostolic times, but so much had been destroyed in the ensuing centuries that records which might have been consulted were likely long lost already.
Among the world’s most recognizable man-made structures, the Dome of the Rock – known in Arabic as the Qubbat as-Sakara – is also one of its most mysterious. Although much of the Dome’s construction, reconstruction, and later additions are well-known from historical texts and archeological work, what it represents, why it was built where it was, and even its use remain the subject of scholarly controversy. Known for its immense size and beauty, and also for being located in the middle of Jerusalem, one of the world’s holiest cities, the Dome of the Rock has been the focus of political leaders who wished to legitimize their rule, religious warriors who believed that it empowered their weapons, and pilgrims who thought it was a site of salvation and enlightenment.

    Jewish Family Life - Customs...

Jewish family life is deeply rooted in tradition, values, and a strong sense of community. The family is not just a social unit but the very foundation of Jewish identity, shaping the faith, customs, and moral principles passed down through generations. Through daily practices, holidays, and shared rituals, Jewish families cultivate a home environment that nurtures both spiritual and ethical development.
At the core of Jewish family life is the concept of shalom bayit, or peace in the home. This principle emphasizes harmony, mutual respect, and love among family members. Parents play a crucial role in modeling these values, creating an atmosphere where kindness, patience, and understanding are prioritized. The Torah provides guidance on fostering a household filled with compassion and justice, reinforcing the idea that family is a sacred space where Jewish teachings come to life.
Another fundamental aspect of Jewish family life is the observance of Shabbat. The Sabbath is more than just a day of rest—it is a time for families to reconnect, reflect, and step away from the distractions of daily life. The preparation for Shabbat, including lighting the candles, reciting blessings over wine and bread, and sharing a festive meal, strengthens family bonds. Shabbat serves as a reminder of the importance of slowing down, appreciating one another, and finding holiness within the home. It is a time when parents pass down traditions and children absorb the rhythms of Jewish living.
