Who were the enablers, investors and innovators who transformed the original promise of crypto into a digital Wild West? Hype Machine is the definitive story of the boom and bust of crypto, written by award-winning Financial Times journalist Joshua Oliver. Expansive, nuanced and eminently entertaining, it demystifies the crypto circus by following the journeys of its most influential participants and the trajectory of SBF, its enigmatic ringmaster.Oliver, who reported on the crypto crash with extensive access to SBF himself, introduces listeners to the people and ideas that shaped crypto's wild rise and fall, including Arthur Hayes, Changpeng Zhao and the coterie of acolytes who surrounded FTX. Audrey Hepburn, born Audrey Kathleen Ruston, was a British actress and humanitarian recognized as a film and fashion icon. She rose to stardom with Roman Holiday (1953), winning an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a BAFTA for her performance. Hepburn's notable films include Sabrina, Funny Face, and Breakfast at Tiffany's. Later in life, she dedicated herself to UNICEF, working in impoverished communities. She was awarded the US Presidential Medal of Freedom for her humanitarian work. Hepburn was known for her unique style, often wearing simple, elegant silhouettes designed by Givenchy. She was considered one of the most beautiful women of all time, and remains a style inspiration.

    CURIOUS FACT SAMPLES:

Audrey Hepburn's father, Joseph Victor Anthony Ruston, changed his surname to Hepburn-Ruston because he mistakenly believed he was descended from James Hepburn, 4th Earl of Bothwell. He may have done this at the insistence of Audrey's mother in order to appear more aristocratic.

In the mid-1930s, Audrey's parents were involved with the British Union of Fascists, with her mother even meeting Adolf Hitler and writing favorably about him. However, her mother's views changed after her uncle was executed for resistance activities in 1942.

During the German occupation of the Netherlands, Audrey used the name Edda van Heemstra because her English-sounding name was considered dangerous. She also gave silent dance performances that raised money for the Dutch resistance.

Did you know that the English longbow was the “machine gun” of the medieval era, with its effectiveness being far greater than the crossbow?
The English longbow, typically made of yew wood, was one of the most powerful weapons in the Middle Ages that could change the course of battles. Measuring up to six feet in length, this weapon was highly regarded for its power and accuracy—trained archers could accurately shoot their target from over 200 yards.
The longbow also had a faster rate of fire compared to crossbows. Archers could release up to twelve arrows in a minute, while a crossbowman could only fire a maximum of three bolts in the same span of time. Because of this, longbowmen could unleash a devastating rain of arrows upon their enemies, disrupting their formations so the other units could charge in.
The medieval archers also required less training time to master the art of the longbow since the weapon’s mechanics were far simpler than that of crossbows. The most significant advantage of the longbow, however, was its penetrating power. An accurate shot could easily pierce through the armor of medieval soldiers. These archers would also fire at charging steeds to take down mounted knights. Without their mounts, heavily armored knights would be rendered immobile, making them almost completely vulnerable.
The history of the Middle Ages is rather complex and intricate. With so many events taking place simultaneously, it is easy to get confused over time. But that is about to change as this all-new history audiobook allows you to easily explore the gripping events that took place within this interesting period.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning author "shares his insights into—and passion for—the creation and experience of fiction with total openness" (Publishers Weekly, starred review).

Robert Olen Butler, author of Perfume River, A Good Scent from a Strange Mountain, and A Small Hotel, teaches graduate fiction at Florida State University—his version of literary boot camp. In From Where You Dream, Butler reimagines the process of writing as emotional rather than intellectual and tells writers how to achieve the dream space necessary for composing honest, inspired fiction. Proposing that fiction is the exploration of the human condition with yearning as its compass, Butler reinterprets the traditional tools of the craft using the dynamics of desire. Offering a direct view into the mind and craft of a literary master, From Where You Dream is an invaluable tool for the novice and experienced writer alike.

"Incisive and provocative, Butler's tutorials are a must for anyone even thinking about writing fiction, and readers, too, will benefit from his passionate exhortations." —Booklist
