  Today, safeguarding nation-states, organizations, and citizens has less to do with security (cyber and non-cyber) but has everything to do with Survivability.We are now in the 'Era of the Unprecedented': since 2010, Geo-Poli-Cyber™ warfare has been increasing in intensity. The motivation of its perpetrators is often driven by political, ideological, ‘religious’ and extremist objectives, rather than financial gain. Many top decision makers and citizens are unaware of this reality or the implications it has on their sovereignties, businesses, lives and livelihoods, and most do not know how to mitigate it. This trend has seen governments and businesses constantly breached by high-impact cyberattacks, confirming the ineptitude of best in class cyber security strategies, solutions, policies and procedures. Yet, they continue implementing what they know is failing and ineffective. 
  The 2020 pandemic revealed a fundamental flaw in many Western democratic nations; their failure to appropriately prepare for a threat they knew was coming and the cost of this in human lives. This pandemic has shed light on the weaknesses of the current international order and economic, political, legal and democratic models and structures that enable it. It has also called into question the capacity of existing cyber security protocols and designs to protect nations, companies and citizens. The question remains: are governments ready for cyber terrorism, election meddling, fake news and the malicious use of artificial intelligence and quantum computing? How about them all happening at the same time? Survivability provides potential answers to this and other pressing concerns.

  Gorgias is a philosophical dialogue written by Plato, set in Athens in the early 5th century BC. The dialogue is named after the renowned Greek sophist Gorgias of Leontini, who is the main interlocutor in the conversation. 
  The dialogue begins with a discussion about the nature of rhetoric and its relationship to truth. Socrates, the main protagonist of the dialogue, argues that rhetoric is merely a skill of persuasion, and that its practitioners do not necessarily possess knowledge of the subject matter they are discussing. Gorgias and his student Polus disagree, and argue that rhetoric can be used to achieve both knowledge and persuasion. 
  The discussion then turns to the question of whether or not it is better to suffer injustice or to commit injustice. Socrates argues that it is better to suffer injustice than to commit it, and that it is always better to do what is right rather than what is expedient. Gorgias and Polus, however, disagree and argue that it is better to be the one who is in power and able to do as they please. 
  The dialogue concludes with a discussion about the nature of happiness and whether or not it can be achieved through the pursuit of power and wealth. Socrates argues that true happiness comes from living a life of virtue and wisdom, rather than from external circumstances such as wealth and power. 
  Overall, Gorgias is a profound exploration of some of the most fundamental questions of philosophy, including the nature of truth, justice, and happiness. It remains one of Plato's most famous and influential works, and is essential reading for anyone interested in the history of philosophy.

  NATO, or the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, is a military alliance formed in 1949 to provide collective defense against aggression, primarily focused on safeguarding the democratic values and security of its member nations. Over time, its role has expanded from traditional defense to addressing global security challenges, including the fight against terrorism and the stabilization of conflict zones. The War in Afghanistan became a key test for NATO's evolving mission, showcasing its capabilities in out-of-area operations far beyond the traditional borders of its members. 
  The decision to involve NATO in Afghanistan followed the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States, which were planned and orchestrated by al-Qaeda, a terrorist group harbored by Afghanistan's Taliban regime. In response, NATO invoked Article 5 of its founding treaty for the first time in its history, declaring an attack on one member as an attack on all. The alliance's commitment to fighting terrorism led to the deployment of NATO forces in Afghanistan, initially through Operation Enduring Freedom, and later through the more expansive International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission. 
  NATO’s intervention was multi-faceted, aiming not only to eliminate terrorist threats but also to assist in rebuilding a war-torn nation. The alliance’s involvement extended beyond military operations, focusing on stabilizing Afghanistan by promoting security, governance, and economic development. This commitment was based on the understanding that military force alone would not bring lasting peace. NATO recognized that its mission required close collaboration with local Afghan forces, international organizations, and governments, all working together to achieve a stable and secure Afghanistan.
