Summary

Reviewed by Lesley Jones for Readers' Favorite
Poetry in Motion by Glenda Higgins is a thought-provoking collection of poetry that will make you stop and think about your past relationships and experiences and embracing the future. Each of the poems covers the different human emotions we can experience in our lifetime. Many people go through life stuck in an emotional rut, and do not know how to move forward emotionally and positively. These warm and inviting poems will shed light on the emotions you feel in troubled times, but will also motivate you to have the courage to walk through life with love, confidence and embrace your own life journey.
I have read many books of poetry, but this is much more than a collection of poems. I found so many inspiring words of wisdom in this book that I have written them in my journal as motivational mantras. For instance, in Story teller Toes, 'Would it make more sense. To shut down shop. And never give out. And never to know. What to grow through'. My interpretation of this is to never give up, to keep striving towards your dream. Again in Clarity, 'Life's truth disguised as muddled times'. This poem really spoke to my subconscious. Glenda has a unique and exceptional creative talent. She sees such beauty in the world and within the human personality.
These poems will touch the most hardened of hearts but will need to be read over and over again to gain the wonderful and meaningful message within. In the poem Barefoot Along The Edges, the question is asked, 'How can I glitter without an edge?' I now have a clear understanding of how to achieve that. If you have never read a book of poetry before then this has to be your first. Outstanding work and highly recommended.

Cynthia Miller's debut poetry collection, Honorifics, is an astonishing, adventurous, and innovative exploration of family, Malaysian-Chinese cultural identity, and immigration. From jellyfish blooms to glitch art and distant stars, taking in Greek gods, space shuttles and wedding china along the way, Miller's mesmerizing approach is experimental, luscious, and expansive with longing - "My skin hunger could fill a galaxy".
Here, the poetry is interwoven with the words for all the things we honour – our loved ones and our ancestors, home and homecomings, and all that is precious and makes us feel that we belong and are beloved. It is also a book that examines contemporary issues of migration in sharp and enquiring relief. Language itself becomes a radical power for reimaging, challenging, and making change, and Miller's distinctive and multifaceted poetry creates an extraordinary space for multiplicity and celebration.
'This is language and detail, honed and luxurious. This is space and memory and migratory patterns and fable. An array of formal play and innovation. And everything finely weighted like a gift-box of intricate, interlocking mechanisms.' – Jacob Sam-La Rose
'Honorifics is a dazzlingly inventive collection that circles around themes of love and yearning, family history and migration, with a sophisticated touch. Formally playful, these poems are alive with imagery and a restless intelligence'– Jane Yeh

Up-and-coming comics Alex and Ben have been booked in the warm-up spot for a beloved but fading double act's comeback tour. Neither is delighted to be playing to a sparse crowd in a sleepy seaside town – but when it's revealed that a Hollywood director is in the audience, both acts glimpse a final chance for their big break.
Cue sabotage, mistaken identity and full-on farcical mayhem, as the performance descends into a desperate battle for the limelight. With the action alternating between offstage and on, and the tone between Noises Off and Morecambe and Wise's old-school charm, The Comeback is a heart-warming exploration of bittersweet nostalgia and the enduring power of friendship.
It is the joyful and dazzlingly funny debut play by The Pin's award-winning Ben Ashenden and Alex Owen – 'destined to become one of the great comedy duos' (Radio Times). It opened at the West End's Noël Coward Theatre in December 2020.

Turned on its head, reality’s madness becomes a comical carnival of the ridiculous with intervals of creative, contemplative verse.
Within this collection of short stories and poems are the musings, struggles and cynicisms of those who see the political puppetry, the diminishing resources, the infinite greed, overconsumption, and violence that exists beneath the accepted patina of contemporary society. Through the power of spoken word, atmospheric soundscapes and musical melodies, these revelations represent the wilful recognition of truth and the rejection of falsity; they are the Murmurs of the Mad.
