Synopsis

What is it that makes humans uniquely human? This, in part, is the question that G.K. Chesterton starts with in this classic exploration of human history. Responding to the evolutionary materialism of his contemporary H.G. Wells, Chesterton affirms human uniqueness and the unique message of the Christian faith in this work. Writing in a time when social Darwinism was rampant, Chesterton instead argued that the idea that society has been steadily progressing from a state of primitivism and barbarity towards civilization is woefully inaccurate.

What would Jesus do? When several members of an ordinary American church are challenged to not take a single action without fist asking that crucial question, they discover the power of God to transform their own lives—and their world. Charles M. Sheldon’s provocative novel, originally published in 1896 and enthusiastically rediscovered by today’s believers, testifies dramatically to the value of Christian witness in all of life.

Charles M. Sheldon (1857–1946) is best remembered for his 1896 masterwork In His Steps, the multi-million copy best-selling Christian novel that continues to challenge readers today. But he was more than a best-selling author. At the turn of the twentieth century, Sheldon was perhaps the best-known clergyman in America, a preacher whose avid support of social reforms grew out of his understanding of the Christian’s responsibility to his fellowman.

The Psychic Megan Series consists of twenty-three novelettes about a young girl`s growing realisation that she is able to do things that none of her family can. Megan is twelve years old in the first volume. She has two seemingly insurmountable problems. Her mother is frightened of her daughter`s latent abilities and not only will not help her but actively discourages her; and she can’t find a teacher to help her develop her supernatural, psychic powers. For she wants not only to know what it is possible to do and how to do it, but to what end she should put her special abilities. Megan is a good girl, so it would seem obvious that she would tend towards using her powers for good, but it is not always easy to do the right thing even if you know what that is.
These stories about Megan will appeal to anyone who has an interest in psychic powers, the supernatural and the paranormal and is between the ages of ten and a hundred years old.
In Megan`s Followers, Megan`s parents allow her to open accounts with the most popular social media companies. They don`t know much about it themselves, but they had read that it was not advisable for children under thirteen to join. Since she had recently passed that age, they had no objection. Megan soon devises ways of gaining followers and influencing them through her various activities at school. She is surprised to find out that her posts are going around the world, and one `dear old friend` contacts her to join her followers. She is over the Moon, but also discovers how easy it is to become vulnerable to predators!

Which ones have yet to be witnessed? In what ways have the economies of scale in violence been reversed? What is the threat assessment and risk analysis pending today? Dr. Chuck Missler, an honor graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, with an international background including three decade’s experience in the board rooms of the defense industry, reviews the major Biblical references to warfare, the trends in modern weapons technology, and some of the current preparations for war among the major powers.

    The Healing Tree - Botanicals...

The Healing Tree celebrates the forest: its powers, spirits, magic, medicine, and mysteries. Author Stephanie Rose Bird shares how trees have provided her with personal healing, then allows us to share in that process for our own benefit and, by extension, provide healing for Earth's beleaguered forests.

Reclaiming traditional botanical and herbal practices has never been more important than it is today. So much of our future depends on our ability to use ancient Earth knowledge. Although many botanicals and herbals have been published, they tend to focus on Europe and the Americas. For many, the word "rainforest" is synonymous with the endangered Amazon Basin, as if that were Earth's only endangered patch of healing green. Africa, the Mother Continent and reputedly the birthplace of the entire human race, remains largely ignored. Yet African wild lands are as endangered as the Amazon. Equally endangered are the traditional indigenous cultures of Africa, caretakers of sophisticated botanical medicinal systems whose roots stretch back to the proverbial dawn of time.

The book offers functional, accessible recipes, remedies, and rituals derived from a variety of African and African American traditions to serve mind, body, soul, and spirit.

    Low Anthropology - The Unlikely...

Many of us spend our days feeling like we're the only one with problems, while everyone else has their act together. But the sooner we realize that everyone struggles like we do, the sooner we can show grace to ourselves and others.

In Low Anthropology, popular author and theologian David Zahl explores how our ideas about human nature influence our expectations in friendship, work, marriage, and politics. We all go through life with an "anthropology"—an idea about what humans are like, our potentials and our limitations. A high anthropology—thinking optimistically about human nature—can breed perfectionism, anxiety, burnout, loneliness, and resentment. Meanwhile, Zahl invites listeners into a biblically rooted and surprisingly life-giving low anthropology, which fosters hope, deep connection with others, lasting love, vulnerability, compassion, and happiness.

Zahl offers a liberating view of human nature, sin, and grace, showing why the good news of Christianity is both urgent and appealing. By embracing a more accurate view of human beings, listeners will discover a true and lasting hope.
