Summary

How can we better understand ourselves and others? The classical concept of the four temperaments - the four personality types characterized as the fiery choleric, the airy sanguine, the watery phlegmatic and the earthy melancholic - has been revered by many significant thinkers over the ages. In a refreshing treatment Dr Childs demonstrates how this ancient doctrine remains relevant to the present day. He shows us how we can recognize the temperaments in our fellow human beings as well as in ourselves, and how to understand their workings. A comprehension of their influence can boost personal development, as well as help improve interpersonal relationships. Conversational in tone and easily digestible, this book features fascinating discussions of the relationships between adults of various temperaments. Childs reviews matters of compatibility in partnership, family and workplace situations, liberally spicing his commentary with amusing examples of likely scenarios. He investigates the origins and manifestations of the temperaments in both their psychological and physiological aspects. There is also a section on the temperaments of children, with helpful and practical advice on dealing with individual issues. DR GILBERT CHILDS attended the Steiner teacher training course at Michael Hall after war service. He later studied at four universities, his doctoral thesis being entitled 'Steiner Education as Historical Necessity'. After teaching at State and Steiner schools he spent twenty years as a tutor in a further education college for severely physically disabled students. He is, in retirement, a full-time author and keen gardener. His published works include "Your Reincarnating Child" and "Truth, Beauty and Goodness".

An exploration of how to bring medicine into the twenty-first century with our understanding of gender and sex differences. Over millions of years, male and female bodies developed crucial physiological differences to improve the chances for human survival. These differences have become culturally obsolete with the overturning of traditional gender roles. But they are nevertheless very real, and they go well beyond the obvious sexual and reproductive variances: men and women differ in terms of digestion, which affects the way medications are absorbed. Sensitivity to pain is dependent on gender. Even the symptoms of a heart attack manifest differently in a man than in a woman. And yet the medical establishment largely treats male and female patients as though their needs are identical. In fact, medical research is still done predominately on men, and the results are then applied to the treatment of women. This is clearly problematic and calls for a paradigm change—such a paradigm change is the purpose of Gender Medicine.Praise for Gender Medicine “Gender Medicine is cutting edge in that the author challenges the historical and antiquated paradigms that women and men are interchangeable with respect to their physiology, pharmacology and pathophysiology excluding their reproductive organs. There is a shocking paucity of resource material showcasing the most current and complete evidence on sex and gender-based medicine. Marek Glezerman’s book is a comprehensive and pleasurable read; it will enlighten both medical and nonmedical audiences and is highly applicable to the effective clinical practice of medicine in the twenty-first century.” —Alyson J. McGregor M.D., MA, FACEP, Director, Division of Sex and Gender in Emergency Medicine (SGEM), Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown Universit “This fascinating work will teach readers a great deal about sex, gender, and the human body. A must-read for health-care practitioners and anyone interested in medicine.” —Library Journal, starred review

"Switch" by Chip Heath, Dan Heath : Book SummaryNOTE–THIS IS A BOOK SUMMARY OF THE FOLLOWING BOOK: Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard by Chip Heath, Dan HeathORIGINAL BOOK DESCRIPTION:Why is it so hard to make lasting changes in our companies, in our communities, and in our own lives? The primary obstacle is a conflict that’s built into our brains, say Chip and Dan Heath, authors of the critically acclaimed bestseller Made to Stick. Psychologists have discovered that our minds are ruled by two different systems—the rational mind and the emotional mind—that compete for control. The rational mind wants a great beach body; the emotional mind wants that Oreo cookie. The rational mind wants to change something at work; the emotional mind loves the comfort of the existing routine. This tension can doom a change effort—but if it is overcome, change can come quickly. In Switch, the Heaths show how everyday people—employees and managers, parents and nurses—have united both minds and, as a result, achieved dramatic results: ? The lowly medical interns who managed to defeat an entrenched, decades-old medical practice that was endangering patients.? The home-organizing guru who developed a simple technique for overcoming the dread of housekeeping.? The manager who transformed a lackadaisical customer-support team into service zealots by removing a standard tool of customer service In a compelling, story-driven narrative, the Heaths bring together decades of counterintuitive research in psychology, sociology, and other fields to shed new light on how we can effect transformative change. Switch shows that successful changes follow a pattern, a pattern you can use to make the changes that matter to you, whether your interest is in changing the world or changing your waistline.

This is a 3-book bundle, which addresses various subtopics, including but not limited to these:

Book 1: Schizophrenia is more common than you think. And there are a lot of false myths about it. Some people it’s similar to multiple personality disorder, but this notion is far from the truth. Others say it’s only related to voices or addictions. But there is more to it than that.

In this guide, we will shed more light on this important matter. Schizophrenia should be understood, empathized with, and acknowledged. Those who have it, are people, like all of us, with a slight disorder in their brain that has some negative side effects (and even a few positive ones).

Book 2: In this guide, we’ll show you a brief history of schizophrenia. By understanding what has happened in the past, present analyses will become clearer. Also, the concept of synchronicity will become apparent, as well as the side effects of schizophrenia that relate to suicidal tendencies, depression, bipolarity, etc.

Book 3: Schizophrenia is a brain disorder that’s commonly inherited from the previous generation(s). But what makes this disorder so different from other ones? And more importantly, what can we do about it?

One of the things that many people overlook, is that those who have schizophrenia lack high doses of Vitamin D. Other side effects are that they are typically highly creative, that they suffer from psychosis during stressful times in their lives, and their social interactions with others can have various impacts.

Read about all these positive and negative consequences, so that you, too, can have a better grasp of the disorder and cope with it more effectively.
