Summary

Orphaned siblings Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny have no one to turn to and nowhere to live–until they find an old boxcar in the woods. With determination and a sense of adventure, they fix up the boxcar to feel more like home, look for odd jobs, and take care of one another.  
 
The four children want to stay hidden from the mean grandfather they’ve never met. But when Violet gets sick, they must risk everything to save her. 
 
The Box-Car Children was ranked as one of the “Top 100 Chapter Books” of all time by School Library Journal, and remains a beloved classic.
