Sinopse

Seeing Things is collection of lyrical narratives that focus on joy, grief, courage, fear, love.

The twenty-three visions in this collection wrestle with the universal verities of our lives. Each chapter of the volume is a stand-alone vision, yet the chapters work together to create a single voice, building and spotlighting the strength we all must find as we move through our lives.

The book focuses on the drawing-in of family, friends, and nature in those moments that shape us in the crucible.

Author David Morrell is a consummate storyteller, investing his tales with passion, sympathy, and narrative drive. From this master of literate, high-adrenaline novels of action comes three suspenseful short stories that will keep listeners guessing:
"Front Man" – An aging screenwriter cast adrift in a youth-oriented Hollywood culture finds a scary way to make it back into the business.
"Nothing Will Hurt You" – A father is obsessed by his daughter's murder and will stop at nothing to avenge her.
"Resurrection" – A son is determined to preserve and care for a father in cryogenic sleep.

Phineas Donovan is possessed of a sharp intellect. Fresh from Cambridge, he obtains a generous live-in position as tutor for the son of the wealthy Lord Bettencourt. If he can prove his value, he has hopes of being given the patronage of his employer, allowing him to take up a position as vicar. There, he can pursue his intellectual endeavors in peace and relative financial comfort. In her humble but informed opinion, Lady Sarah Danneville is possessed of an even sharper intellect. If anyone should be tutoring her younger brother, it is she, not the reserved, bespectacled gentleman her father has employed to do the job. He is not fit to instruct a Danneville of Bettencourt. But as Sarah works to undermine him, Mr. Donovan shows more pluck than she expects, not to mention that he harbors a secret hobby that would be laughable if it weren’t so dreadfully unsophisticated. If she can use this secret against him, she can finally persuade her father she is more than bait to lure a prosperous match. Now, if only she can avoid being drawn into the dearth of sophistication—and Mr. Donovan’s eyes—herself. Battling the Bluestocking is the third in Martha Keyes's The Donovans regency-set romance series. Each book can be treated as a standalone.

William Cuthbert Faulkner was born on the 25th September 1897 in New Albany, Mississippi.
Faulkner never graduated from high school and also dropped out of the University of Mississippi. Despite this seeming lack of application, he would go on to become one of the literary leviathans of American Modernism. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1949 as well as two Pulitizer prizes and was a prolific Hollywood screenwriter.
With classics such as ‘The Sound and the Fury’ and ‘As I Lay Dying’, together with his complex sentence structures his work with Southern Gothic remains an enduring legacy.
William Faulkner died on the 6th July 1962 in Byhalia, Mississippi. He was 64.

Under the shade of the feijoa trees offers a representative sample of Hayley Ann Solomon’s particular brand of high quality, emotionally resonant short stories. The styles and intensities vary extensively, but the common denominator is humanity in all its complexity, woven with philosophy.
“This eclectic and very personal collection of short stories by successful writer of genre fiction and emerging poet, Hayley Ann Solomon, describes in lyrical detail widely dispersed places and situations. The stories are well-constructed and intensely-felt and the author’s joy in the sounds and sequencing of beautiful words is evident.”—Philip Chatting, Winner of the Proverse Prize 2014, author of The Snow Bridge and Other Stories (Proverse, 2015).
Hayley Ann Solomon is an award winning author and poet.  A Librarian by training, Hayley has been a full time author for some years, winning repeated recognition in commercial genre fiction. In 2017—a new departure—her first poetry collection, Celestial Promise, received a Proverse Publication Prize. She travelled to Hong Kong for the launch of her book in November 2017 and was interviewed on Radio Television Hong Kong on Phil Whelan’s Morning Brew programme.

It is often said that the best writers write about something they know, something they understand. And it’s excellent advice. So when authors of the calibre of Stephen Crane, James Fenimore Cooper, Joseph Conrad, Fyodor Dostoyevsky and many others share that experience with us, a bond of trust and respect is easily attained.
