The first print collection of Dorothy Bonarjee's verse In February 1914, Dorothy 'Dorf' Bonarjee was awarded the Bardic chair at the UCW Eisteddfod for verse. She was the first woman and first non-European to win Wales' most prestigious literary prize. In their 34th Welsh Women's Classic, Honno Welsh Women's Press presents the first publication of Dorothy Bonarjee's verse alongside a vivid account of the poet's extraordinary life in India, London, Wales and France. Poet Dorothy 'Dorf' Bonarjee was born in India in 1894 into an elite Bengali family. As a child, she moved to London and in 1912 she enrolled at the University College of Wales at Aberystwyth. Two years later, she was awarded the Bardic chair at the Eisteddfod, and went on to publish poems in Welsh journals. Bonarjee later took a law degree at the University of London and eloped with a French artist. France remained her home for the rest of her life.Ver livro
In this haunting and vivid ballad, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner weaves a timeless tale of guilt, redemption, and the destructive power of nature. When an old mariner stops a wedding guest to recount the eerie tale of his voyage, the story unfolds like a dark, mesmerizing dream. The mariner, cursed for his reckless act of killing an albatross, finds himself and his crew trapped in a desolate, supernatural world of endless sea and sky. As they battle the elements and face the consequences of their actions, the mariner must come to terms with the grave sins he's committed, while the ocean itself seems to conspire against him.Ver livro
Poetry. A form of words that seems so elegantly simple in one verse and so cleverly complex in another. Each poet has a particular style, an individual and unique way with words and yet each of us seems to recognise the path and destination of where the verses lead, even if sometimes the full comprehension may be a little beyond us. Through the centuries every culture has produced verse to symbolize and to describe everything from everyday life, natural wonders, the human condition and even in its more hubristic moments, the crushing triumph of an enemy. In the volumes of this series, we take a look at poetry through the prism of individual regions of England, or sometimes more quaintly known as ‘Albion’, or ‘Blighty’, through the centuries of its gloried history. England, despite its perception of reserve and under-statement has, in reality, strode the global stage at various time in many things, both good and bad, from Empire to long distance running. Here our focus in on its literature. Famed for its fiction and dramas, it is equally admired for its plethora of gifted poets and the dazzling verse which has added so much to its artistic legacy. These classic poets are wonders of their age and of their art. Genius is written in their names. In this volume we explore the poets of Cambridge. A small city, with its famed university, with an enviable historical grandeur and roll-call of poets who dazzle, humble and inspire us all in ways that only a poet can. Our poets include Christopher Marlowe, Lord Byron, Rupert Brooke, Alfred Lord Tennyson, John Donne and the talents of very many others.Ver livro

Richard Dreyfuss and Stacy Keach star in this full-cast performance of Arthur Miller’s classic The Crucible, a central work in the canon of American drama. In the rigid theocracy of Salem, Massachusetts, rumors that women are practicing witchcraft galvanize the town. In a searing portrait of a community engulfed by panic - with ruthless prosecutors, and neighbors eager to testify against neighbor - The Crucible famously mirrors the anti-Communist hysteria that held the United States in its grip in the 1950’s. A Tony Award Winner for Best Play. An L.A.
