Sinopse

In "How Private George W. Peck Put Down the Rebellion or, The Funny Experiences of a Raw Recruit," Peck offers a captivating blend of humor and military narrative, reflecting on his experiences as an inexperienced recruit during the American Civil War. This semi-autobiographical work is characterized by its lively prose and comical anecdotes, providing both entertainment and insight into the absurdities of war. It serves as a unique literary artifact that captures the zeitgeist of the post-war period, employing satire to offset the grim realities faced by soldiers, demonstrating how comedy can emerge even in the bleakest circumstances. George W. Peck, a journalist and humorist, utilized his personal experiences to craft this engaging narrative, drawing from his service in the Wisconsin Volunteers. His career in the press and affinity for humor influenced his storytelling technique, allowing him to inject levity into a subject often steeped in sorrow. Peck's background in theater and journalism also enriched his narrative style, facilitating a presentation that resonates with both soldiers' camaraderie and the chaos of battle. Readers looking for a light-hearted yet poignant examination of military life during the Civil War will find Peck's work to be both enlightening and entertaining. This book is highly recommended for those interested in military history, humor literature, and personal narratives that reveal deeper truths through laughter, offering a fresh perspective on war's experience.

World War II was the largest and most violent armed conflict in the history of mankind. Highly relevant today, World War II has much to teach us, not only about the profession of arms, but also about military preparedness, global strategy, and combined operations in the coalition war against fascism. This book follows military operations of the US Army in China from 4 July 1942 to 4 May 1945.
The China Theater of Operations more resembled the Soviet-German war on the Eastern Front than the war in the Pacific or the war in Western Europe. On the Asian continent, as on the Eastern Front, an Allied partner, China, carried the brunt of the fighting. China had been at war with Japan since 1937 and continued the fight until the Japanese surrender in 1945. The United States advised and supported China's ground war, while basing only a few of its own units in China for operations against Japanese forces in the region and Japan itself. The primary American goal was to keep the Chinese actively in the Allied war camp, thereby tying down Japanese forces that otherwise might be deployed against the Allies fighting in the Pacific. The United States and Nationalist China succeeded in forging a coalition that withstood the tests of time. Indeed, Chinese leader Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, the Allied Supreme Commander, China Theater, accepted, though reluctantly, U.S. Army generals as his chiefs of staff. This command relationship also endured differences in national war aims and cultures, as well as personalities, until the end of the war. The original policies of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Army Chief of Staff George C. Marshall succeeded—China stayed in the war and prevented sizable numbers of Japanese troops from deploying to the Pacific.

There is an elite group that control the world. They run governments, companies and religions. They have done so for a very long time.

Their names have changed, their faces altered but their bloodlines remain the same.

We see glimpses of their power. We see the outcomes of their plots and schemes. We see revolutions and war. We succumb to their propaganda and manipulation again and again. Most have no idea that they are under the spell.

In the 18th century they emerged briefly into the spotlight to bring about world-wide cataclysmic change and they called themselves the Illuminati.

Quickly they spread and embedded themselves and their ideals within other secret societies. The French had a bloody revolution. America turned the tide against a royal regime. Russia, Spain and more, all fell to the zeal of a new world order.

This is the story of the world's most powerful secret and sacred order.
