Summary

An obscure piece of silent film draws a woman into madness in this “remarkable achievement” by the “Canadian horror luminary” (Los Angeles Review of Books).   Former film critic Lois Cairns is fired from her teaching job just when her son Clark is diagnosed on the autism spectrum. Caught in a depressive spiral, Lois is convinced she’s a failure who’s spent her adult life writing about other people’s dreams without ever pursuing her own.   Then Lois attends a program of experimental film—and notices what might be a major discovery. Could an early twentieth-century socialite who mysteriously disappeared also have been one of Canada’s first female movie-makers? A sampled piece of silver nitrate silent film footage might prove Lois’s case.   But soon, Lois’s quest to discover the truth about Mrs. A. Macalla Whitcomb reveals troubling links between her subject’s life and her own. As the malign influence of Whitcomb’s muse creeps into Lois’s life, even her son is endangered. Increasingly ill and unstable, Lois is tormented by an existential nightmare that’s part Wendish folklore and part cinematic hallucination projected off the screen and into real life.

Twilight Falls is just your standard northern California town, right? It's not a playground for anything dark and unfathomable, right?
“Hauntingly poetic.” ~ Jeff Soyer, Alphecca Review
“What a page turner! … Robinson is a fine writer, with an enviable gift for the poetic turn of phrase.” ~ Kitty Burns Florey, author of “Solos” and “The Writing Master”
A provocative painter named Max Higgins is on the verge of local fame. What is the secret to his work’s haunting allure? He collects photos of missing persons and incorporates them into his paintings, giving the faces, as he puts it, a “new home in his work.” This fascination stems from the bizarre disappearances of people he knew growing up, including his father.
When someone recognizes a face in one of his paintings, he’s suddenly thrust into a journey as surreal as anything from his brush, a journey into his past that will irrevocably determine his future.

“Master of the macabre”* Bentley Little offers a new lesson in fear with this terrifying horror novel. With a promise of more freedom and a chance to get out from under the thumb of a reactionary school board, the teachers of Tyler High have voted to become a charter school. Instructors and parents alike are thrilled with the prospect of independence. And yet....The formerly laid-back principal has become unusually strict. And with her toadying secretary, she seems to be running the show. That isn’t all. The janitors no longer work nights because of what they hear. The students are frightened by what they see. And things are happening on school grounds that defy rational explanation. But there is an explanation. It’s just not anything that anyone can begin to believe—or hope to survive.

The story of the Cumbrian witches in the small village of Bleaberry Beck, is told in hushed tones and a quiet reverence that speaks of superstition and fear. A paranormal serial killer thriller that’ll keep you turning the pages.
Be careful what you dream when murder is on your mind.
My name is Alice, and I’m a sixteen-year-old ghost. No, I’m not actually dead, but I was born blind. The sad thing is the world’s more blind to me than I am to it.
That is, until the day he noticed me. A bully. He ruined my life and turned my dreams into nightmares, so what could I do? The same thing any girl my age would do—I wished he’d die.
Then… he turns up dead. Naturally, I freaked out. Am I to blame? Did my nightmare kill him? Would anyone believe me if I confessed?
It’s absurd. I know it. Nightmares don’t come true… do they?
Birth of a Killer is the suspenseful prequel novella to The Braille Killer. If you like unique sleuths, origin stories, and a hint of the supernatural, you’ll love Daniel Kuhnley’s nail-biting tale.
