Summary

This unique collection of the greatest macabre tales, mysteries & thriller novels by Gaston Leroux has been designed and formatted to the highest digital standards. "The Mystery of the Yellow Room" is one of the first locked-room mystery crime fiction novels. It is the first novel starring fictional detective Joseph Rouletabille, and concerns a complex and seemingly impossible crime in which the criminal appears to disappear from a locked room. Leroux provides the reader with detailed, precise diagrams and floorplans illustrating the scene of the crime. The emphasis of the story is firmly on the intellectual challenge to the reader, who will almost certainly be hard pressed to unravel every detail of the situation. "The Phantom of the Opera" is a story inspired by historical events at the Paris Opera during the nineteenth century. Opera singer Christine triumphs at the gala on the night of the old managers' retirement. Her old childhood friend, Raoul, hears her sing and recalls his love for Christine. At this time, there are rumours of a phantom living at the Opera and he makes himself known to the managers through letters and malevolent acts. Sometime after the gala, the Paris Opera performs Faust, with the prima donna Carlotta playing the lead, against the Phantom's wishes. During the performance, Carlotta loses her voice and the grand chandelier plummets into the audience... Other novels included are: The Secret of the Night, The Man with the Black Feather and Balaoo. Gaston Leroux (1868-1927) was a French journalist and author of detective fiction. In the English-speaking world, he is best known for writing the novel The Phantom of the Opera (Le Fantôme de l'Opéra), which has been made into several film and stage productions of the same name.

Once, there were three sons… When Elizabeth, Delia and Emily were children, their grandfather told them a story about an island castle called the Needle’s Eye—home to a lord and his three sons—which could be seen from the coast of their small village. The castle has since been hidden by a mysterious and constant fog that looms over the water, but his story speaks of nine girls who rowed out to the castle on Needle’s Eye Island. None of them returned, and the lord’s family was never heard from again.
Years later, following their grandfather’s death, the last ties that bind the three sisters to the village—and each other—seem to be breaking. Elizabeth is set to marry, Emily fears being left alone, and Delia is content to be bitter forever. A careless mistake on the water leads their boat to be swallowed by the forbidden fog, and when they emerge from that cloud, the girls discover that the island castle they’d dreamed of is not a myth.
The mere innocence of a curious glimpse becomes a fight for survival when the girls are cursed by the lord’s ghostly sons. The sisters learn firsthand what happened to the nine girls who never returned home, and their choice quickly becomes apparent: they can play the games of the three soulless men, or they can give in to death, never to see one another again.
--The Needle’s Eye is a horror story, a mystery, and a dark romance. It is a bloody and brutal fairy tale, meant to explore the consequences of falling for a villain.--

However, she's fighting unfounded guilt stemming from the fact that he was Ashley's husband, and tries her best to keep him in the 'friend-zone', (totally unaware that her late cousin sent her to Annapolis for that very purpose).Volume 3 quickly develops into a romantic comedy, as the star-crossed duo keep attempting in vain to keep things platonic. In the midst of trying to maintain her 'make nice, not love' policy with Glen, Lisa joins forces with Glen and the rest of Ashley's former band mates to try and find that missing music. Even as the search continues, they begin making plans to form a combined musical tour de force to win Ashley the fame and recognition that she was denied due to her untimely end. Meanwhile, more clues concerning the identity and whereabouts of Ashley's mysterious Aussie friend, Dahlia, begin to surface, and Libbet begins to make some progress in her obsession to have a two-way conversation with Ashley in order to get some answers about her still-unsolved murder. Eventually, Glen's taunting message to Ashley's killers, (from the Tarantella concert footage), finally reaches them in New Zealand, and they send someone to Annapolis to look into things. Finally, all the dominoes begin to fall when the FBI apprises New Scotland Yard of their presence in Annapolis. Justice proves to own a sense of humor as the FBI and the Yard set up a sting for the killers, as well as that hangman's noose for the grim reaper, as well.
