Sinopse

YOU DON'T KNOW JACK. Jack DeWitt is Clueless is a classic coming of age story set in the backdrop of the 1960s. Jack experiences the beginning of the decade as a junior high student growing up in a Midwestern factory town. He loves books. He hates sports. He's not sure girls like him. And then he has this pimple situation. Through Jack, we experience the main events of the early 1960s: the Civil Rights Movement, the Vietnam war and the protests it engendered, the assassination of JFK, the influence of Martin Luther King Jr., and the songs of the Beatles and Motown. Jack also experiences monumental events closer to home. The house belonging to the only black family living in Jack's neighborhood burns down in the middle of the night. The fire was obviously caused by arson, but the police hardly bother to investigate it. Almost one year later, the white man suspected of setting the fire is found murdered in his garage, his head smashed in with a hammer.

Then I shall be a rich widow and will be able to marry Julius when he is the Duke of Yelverton after all!” But when news arrives that Julius’ uncle is on his deathbed everything changes. Sophie sends Lalitha to meet Lord Rothwyn at the Church to tell him that he is being jilted. And from the moment the dashing Lord mistakes her for Sophie and seizes her in a passionate kiss, her heart is lost and her life is changed forever –

With forty knocking on my door, it feels like my life is falling apart, especially after my recent divorce.
Worse, I'm staring down an important deadline while tackling the worst writer’s block of my career. I need a change, and fast, so I put New York City in my rearview mirror and head north to the picturesque small town of Gossamer Falls. Two weeks of peace and quiet—just what I need to get out of my head and finish this book.
I’m expecting to spend my days staring at my laptop and exploring the tourist town, but I’m wholly unprepared for the hotel’s owner—sexy, sweet, charming Adam Shephard.
I should be focused on my overdue manuscript, not Adam’s sinful eyes and muscled arms. Or how his wavy hair falls across his forehead. Or the way his deep voice makes me feel things I haven’t felt in a very long time—which shouldn't matter to me, because Adam is not rebound material. He's sworn off love, and dating.
He's a distraction I cannot afford to indulge in.
But when I visit the allegedly magical falls, things start to happen. Things like Adam kissing the absolute daylights out of me and waking up something I thought my divorce had permanently smothered.
After two weeks in this sleepy little town, I know I’m in trouble. I can’t get enough of Adam Shephard—his laugh, his body, his gloriously dirty mouth.
But my life is elsewhere, and I don’t belong in Gossamer Falls. Even if it’s exactly where my heart wants to stay.

Mississippi, 1927. The groanings are coming.

No town is perfect, but East Cobb comes close. It's a wealthy all-Black Free Town―untouched by white oppression―where ambitious Thea Elliot and her husband plan to make good on their big dreams. Little do they know that the idyllic town teems with ghoulish, walking nightmares . . . that only the women can see.

Marah knows the groanings well. She is one of the carriers―women with the ability to pull traumatic memories from men. Populated by men entirely freed of their pain, East Cobb has flourished, even as the remnants of their memories haunt the town's women. When an unexpected death drives Marah to discover more about her own power, Thea's and Marah's worlds collide. The sisters must confront the rotten core at the heart of East Cobb's prosperity and choose what―and who―will survive the reckoning.

A gripping blend of historical fiction and Southern gothic psychological horror, Our Sister's Keeper is a fierce exploration of Black sisterhood, rage, and resistance.

Shifting Accommodation  is a short humorous story by the famous Russian writer, playwright and theatrical personage Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov (1891 - 1940).
From the Diary of an ingenious comrade Polosukhin:
    November 21.
    Well, Moscow… What a city… Oh, I will tell
you now. There are no available apartments here.
Absolutely no vacant flats! I even had to send a
telegram to my wife and tell her to stay home and wait
for a while. I slept three nights in the bathtub at
Karabuev's apartment. Well, what can I say, not that
bad as it may seem, pretty comfortable, I would say,
just water dripping from time to time. Then I slept two
nights on a gas stove at Shchuevsky's apartment. In
Yelabuga, my hometown, people say that this stove is a
very convenient thing. Hell no, I say! Some screws are
sticking in here and there, and the cookmaid is
grumbling, obviously not happy about my sleeping
    there...
    December 23.
    I'm done, I'm going back to Yelabuga…
