Sinopse

We take reputations for granted. Believing in the bad and the good natures of our notorious or illustrious forebears is part of our shared national heritage. Yet we are largely ignorant of how such reputations came to be, who was instrumental in creating them, and why. Even less have we considered how villains, just as much as heroes, have helped our society define its values. Presenting essays on America's most reviled traitor, its worst president, and its most controversial literary ingénue (Benedict Arnold, Warren G. Harding, and Lolita), among others, sociologist Gary Alan Fine analyzes negative, contested, and subcultural reputations. Difficult Reputations offers eight compelling historical case studies as well as a theoretical introduction situating the complex roles in culture and history that negative reputations play. Arguing the need for understanding real conditions that lead to proposed interpretations, as well as how reputations are given meaning over time, this book marks an important contribution to the sociologies of culture and knowledge.

I first read the book “Stranger Than Science” By Frank Edwards when I was about 10 years old and it was an important turning point in my life. The book has many stories of strange events and it really built my curiosity about the world. Later I went to Engineering School and also had many paranormal experiences from learning meditation and other practices.
I have now researched and written over 100 books on strange and mysterious phenomena. My fascination with strange things has become a major passion in my life.
This book is kind of an updated version of that famous Frank Edwards book based on my experiences and research of many phenomena. I’m sure you will find the stories in this book fascinating since they are all samples of much of what I experienced, researched, and have written about.
It contains over 32 chapters of my favorite stories on various topics to provide a question mark for your beliefs and assumptions about the world and universe we live in.
When you finish this volume maybe you will see my point of view which is that as much as we think we know about this world and the universe, there are still many mysteries and strange things out there.

"Life The Goal" by Jiddu Krishnamurti is a profound exploration of the human condition and the quest for meaning and fulfillment. In this book, Krishnamurti delves into the fundamental questions that have perplexed humanity for centuries: What is the purpose of life? What is the nature of truth? How can one find lasting happiness and freedom?
Krishnamurti argues that man is like a cloud, hurried along by the winds of life without a fixed purpose or understanding of life's meaning. He emphasizes the importance of embracing all experiences, both pleasant and painful, as essential for a full and meaningful life. Through introspection and self-discovery, Krishnamurti proposes that the ultimate goal of life is the liberation of the self from all desires, experiences, sorrows, and struggles.
Central to Krishnamurti's teachings is the concept of Truth as the eternal goal, transcending the limitations imposed by beliefs, religions, and ideologies. He challenges the reader to cultivate a deep understanding of life, free from external authority and dogma, and to embrace doubt as a crucial tool for uncovering essential truths.
"Life The Goal" offers a thought-provoking and transformative journey toward self-awareness, freedom, and genuine fulfillment. It invites readers to reevaluate their beliefs, question societal norms, and embark on a path of inner exploration and enlightenment.
