Sinopse

Appear Man and Think Beast explores the duality of human nature, arguing that while society teaches ideals like goodness and morality, humans are driven by primal instincts such as survival, dominance, and competition. The book asserts that true success in the modern world requires not only appearing civilised but also thinking strategically and ruthlessly, like a beast.

The author challenges the pursuit of ideals, suggesting that they are illusions that mask the brutal realities of life. Ideals like goodness and justice often lead to hypocrisy and corruption. Instead, survival and success depend on recognising and balancing societal expectations with primal instincts such as territoriality, cunning, and adaptability.

Ultimately, the book advocates for embracing both the civilised and primal aspects of human nature to navigate life effectively. It encourages readers to think beyond idealism and focus on pragmatic strategies for survival and power in a competitive world.

Ideas build and destroy civilizations. Things are not going well. The need for action is now. After thousands of years of human development, our humanity seems to be intent upon disassembling itself with WOKE, Politically Correct thought police, rejected lessons from history and art, ‘book burning’, minorities DICTATING how we live and what we MUST think, riots, homelessness or helplessness and political polarizations with open conflicts and theft in our streets. How to revitalize harmonious existence, individual respect, laws equally for us all, and spirituality either via religion or constructive logic. So to create the conditions for cooperative, harmonious, self-disciplined inter-personal life: a return to greater stability of both mind and action working together for the good of communities and an increasingly interdependent World Social Family.
This building and rebuilding process will take generations, the current alternative will be humanity’s exit which would be both painful and permanent. This need not be. We each can learn so confidently form a renewal of our children’s real future but only by rebuilding our thought processes, awareness, and understanding with and through calm debate, discussion, and sharing of mind.
Industry, agriculture, and the use of both people’s time and natural abilities matter greatly: smaller could well be far more beneficial. Creating public demand to raise output and income too often leads to waste and even harm while generating wealth for a minority, too many of whom are amoral or undeserving.
What is reality other than what we decide it to be? All stems from family upbringing, mental inputs and experiences; educational practices, understood beliefs, the free flow of ideas; respecting other's thoughts, and community actions, which all coalesce into formed concepts and so beliefs. These and more build our minds, humour, fears and needs. These are the very Bricks that Build Us

Today, the majority of the peoples of the planet live in nation-states, based upon the idea, if never the reality, of a single people, a single culture, a single rule of law, and a single source of sovereign authority. But will they continue to do so in the future?

None of the major challenges that confront humanity today—from climate change to disease, from terrorism to mass migration—can be handled effectively by single nation-states, no matter how powerful. The world is no longer made up only of states but also of an ever-increasing multitude of interstate networks and organizations which recognize no borders. We are beginning to be able to imagine the very real possibility of a new global civil society. But what political form should this take?

By examining the history of the evolution of human society from the world's first empires to today's world of interstate networks, this book argues that there now exists the possibility of the emergence of a new political form, a global 'federation of federations', that will bring the species closer to the possibility of a more harmonious, equitable, and secure future.

In the Global South, Indigenous and Native people continue to live under colonial relations within formally independent nation-states. Sebastian Garbe offers a critical perspective on contemporary expressions of international solidarity and transnational advocacy. He combines approaches from critical race and decolonial studies with an activist ethnography on networked spaces of encounters created through solidarity activism by Mapuche and non-Mapuche actors. Departing from those experiences, this book not only presents potential pitfalls of transnational advocacy but suggests new ways of understanding and practicing solidarity.

This concise but comprehensive book lays out specific answers to myriad topical questions about free speech law, and also general explanations of how and why the law distinguishes between protected and punishable speech.

The book focuses on modern First Amendment law, explaining the historic factors that propelled its evolution in a more speech-protective direction—in particular, the Civil Rights Movement. It highlights the many cases, involving multiple issues, in which robust speech-protective principles aided advocates of racial justice and other human rights causes. The book also shows how these holdings reflect universal, timeless values, which have been incorporated in many other legal systems, and have inspired countless thinkers and activists alike.

Without oversimplifying the complexities of free speech law, the book's lively question-and-answer format summarizes this law in an understandable, interesting, and memorable fashion. It addresses the issues in a logical sequence, presenting facts and eloquent language from landmark Supreme Court opinions. It will be illuminating to a wide range of listeners, from those who know nothing about free speech law, to those who have studied it but seek a well-organized summary of major doctrinal rules, as well as insights into their background, rationales, and interconnections.

The New World Order is a non-fiction book written by H.G. Wells and was published by Secker & Warburg in January 1940. In The New World Order, Wells proposed a framework of international functionalism that could guide the world towards achieving world peace. To achieve these ends, Wells asserted that a socialist and scientifically planned world government would need to be formed to defend human rights.Wells's motivation for writing The New World Order was based upon the outbreak of World War II. Wells was concerned that the Allies had no clear statement of aims for fighting in the war and that this would lead to the continuation of the pre-existing balance of power. In The New World Order, Wells writes that without a revolution in international affairs and the establishment of human rights, then further destructive wars were inevitable.
