Sinopse

The German socialist Friedrich Engels first developed an interest in the philosophy of G. W. F. Hegel, prior to forming a permanent partnership with Karl Marx to promote the socialist movement. After persuading the second Communist Congress to adopt their views, the two friends drafted the ‘Communist Manifesto’ of 1848. After Marx’s death in 1883, Engels was the foremost authority on Marx and Marxism. He produced wide-ranging works of his own, including philosophical writings on materialism, idealism and dialectics. His important work helped supply Marxism with an ontological and metaphysical foundation. This eBook presents Engels’ collected works, with numerous illustrations, rare texts, informative introductions and the usual Delphi bonus material. (Version 1)

Disequilibria: Meditations on Missingness is a hybrid memoir that recounts the 1982 disappearance of the author's stepfather, James Edward Lewis, a pilot and Vietnam veteran. Recounting his family's experiences in searching for answers, Lunday interrogates the broader cultural and conceptual responses to the phenomenon of missingness by connecting his stepfather's case to other true-life disappearances as well as those portrayed in fiction, poetry, and film. In doing so Disequilibria explores the transience in modern life, considering the military-dependent experience, the corrosive effects of war, and the struggle to find closure and comfort as time goes by without answers.

Emotion regulation promotes psychological well-being and aids in the management of bad life events and stress. There are various advantages to having better emotion regulation strategies to handle your emotions. The Sociology of Happiness -...

Happiness is often seen as a deeply personal and subjective experience, but from a sociological perspective, it is also shaped by broader social structures, cultural norms, and institutional influences. While psychological and biological factors contribute to individual well-being, sociology emphasizes the role of society in shaping what happiness means and how it is experienced. This chapter explores the ways in which social environments, relationships, and economic conditions influence happiness, highlighting the importance of social context in understanding well-being.
One of the key aspects of happiness from a sociological standpoint is that it is not simply an internal state but a social construct that varies across time and place. Different societies define happiness in different ways, influenced by cultural values, religious beliefs, and historical traditions. In some cultures, happiness is closely linked to material success and individual achievement, while in others, it is more connected to family, spirituality, or collective well-being. This variation suggests that happiness is not universal but shaped by the social world in which individuals live.
Social relationships play a crucial role in determining happiness. Studies have shown that people with strong social connections tend to report higher levels of life satisfaction and well-being. Family, friendships, and community bonds provide emotional support, a sense of belonging, and shared experiences that contribute to happiness. Conversely, social isolation, loneliness, and lack of meaningful relationships can have negative effects on mental and physical health, leading to lower levels of happiness. The sociological perspective on happiness underscores the idea that well-being is not just an individual pursuit but something deeply embedded in social interactions and networks.

  • In Church as It Is In Heaven - Cultivating a Multiethnic Kingdom Culture - cover

Heaven is multiethnic. Are you ready for that?

The Bible tells us that the congregation gathered around God's heavenly throne will be "a vast multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language," all singing the praises of the Lamb. God's intention has always been to delight for all eternity in a redeemed community of ethnic diversity.

But this diverse community shouldn't have to wait until eternity to begin! It can be a reality in our own local churches here and now. Patterned after a worship service, In Church as It Is in Heaven gives biblical warrant for such a community and shows how multiethnic churches provide a unique apologetic for the gospel. Along the way, the authors tell the story of their own church—a majority-white congregation which is being transformed into a family that reflects the diversity of heaven.

The multiethnic kingdom is not just a nice idea, or an abstract theory. It's a reality—one we can enter into today.
