Sinopsis

What is Velocity of Money

The number of times that a single unit of currency is used to make purchases of goods and services within a specified amount of time is what is meant to be measured by the velocity of money. To put it another way, it refers to the number of times individuals exchange money. The idea establishes a connection between the level of economic activity and the amount of money that is available, and the rate at which money is exchanged is one of the factors that determines the level of inflation. The ratio of a country's gross national product (GNP) to its money supply is typically used as a measurement. This ratio is used to determine the velocity of money.

The 18 Laws of Employer Branding

Employer brand has been “a thing” for more than 30 years.
According to LinkedIn (apply your own “grain of salt” rule here), there are 34,000 people who call themselves an employer brander, and 600,000 more who list employer branding as a skill.
There are dozens of agencies and scores of consultants in the US alone who specialize in employer branding.
So why does it feel like we’re all still fumbling around in the dark looking for a light switch?
Now, I have no issue with the idea that there are a million ways to do good employer branding, but without some kind of shared sense of “the basics,” it feels like each new generation of branders figure things out just in time to move onto their next function and fail to pass things down.
Heck, in some employer brand forum right now, there is someone with the title of “employer brand manager” asking, “how do you build an employer brand?” You don’t see recruiters asking, “hey, I just got this job: how do I recruit?”
So let’s set up some basic laws that can apply to your employer branding, regardless of your approach or school of thought.
Hence, the laws of employer branding.

Rebooting Tech Culture - How to...

    Telle Whitney

Many technology leaders believe in having more women and people of color in technical and leadership positions in their organizations while still exhibiting reverence for the lone genius, almost always male, that they believe is imperative to their innovative future. They hold these two ideals as separate.

Why? According to Telle Whitney, cofounder of the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, tech leaders want to talk about inclusivity, but few fundamentally change their culture to dismantle the unwelcoming environment, fearful that doing so will compromise innovation. Women and people of color pay the price, facing exclusive and even hostile workplaces. They're held back from professional growth and in many cases, choose to leave the industry altogether.

But there is a solution. In Rebooting Tech Culture, Whitney explains that the same values at the heart of a culture of innovation—creativity, courage, confidence, curiosity, communication, and community—can also foster a culture that is welcoming to all employees. Drawing on more than fifty interviews with tech executives and a survey of 1,000 people in tech, she shows how these "six Cs" can power real change in technology organizations, creating workplaces where anyone can be successful and where innovation thrives.
